The A380 and B777 are both significantly quieter and smoother places to be than the 747. I used to sometimes book the rear of a 747 just for the excitement of been thrashed about for 12 plus hours.
Reading that back it doesn't look too good, but Hey!

I rode in the back of one too - in the two abreast seating where the cabin narrows - to experience the 5m drop on rotate!
Slight negative g's right before the positive g's of liftoff!

Apparently the world's largest cargo aircraft, the Antonov AN-225 was at Prestwick Airport for a couple of hours yesterday

The A380 is a great plane - I flew on them (in economy and business) on trips to Oz and Nepal, and it was streets ahead of a 747. It'd be a shame if they didn't continue...:-(

Emirates A380 A6-EVI has just taken off from Heathrow for Dubai. Turning South over Egham so not coming our way.

And another A380 tonight, China Southern Airlines, just went straight over us low and loud on the way out of Thiefrow to Guangzhou.

Sitting outside on a balmy night, trying to pretend I'm actually on holiday in Greece...…..

Wonder if it had a deck full of cardboard passengers holding lots of PPE?

The A380s do an impressive job of blocking out the sun when they take off over Datchet/Slough - I race toy cars in a park in Slough and it's one of those weird experiences where everything goes dark and you wonder why!

In other news, BA seem to be rotating their fleet maintenance at Gatwick by flying a Southerly loop over Crawley at 4k feet. Luckily they're all quiet planes, but is odd to look up and see large planes that low so far from the airport!

Intriguingly an Emirates A380 left at 9pm tonight for Dubai and another Emirates one from Heathrow actually landed in Dubai a few minutes later, so multiple daily flights, today at least!

Also there's a BA A380 currently "on manoeuvres" at Heathrow. It flew in yesterday from Chatearoux in France, an airport I've never heard of. Looking it up it seems to be an ex-military base now used for maintenance, training and some other functions. I wonder if the plane was being "fettled" for a return to service?
