I started to doubt the price that Nigel from VMTP had quoted me myself, so called again today and yes its right.

£995 for a full gearbox and TC rebuild with genuine ZF parts and a one year warranty regardless of who fits it, done in 3 days! The fact its so close to Ben's place is the cherry on the top really.

This is all looking good Amar +++ Looking forward to seeing the results too...

Thanks Clive, look forward to seeing you next month S8 an all. +++

The gearbox should be out the car soon, I've asked Ben to take some pictures of the process for the forum, he was happy to do this so they will be added to this thread for you all to see. Thanks to Ben for going the extra mile as usual and if you don't go to him already, you really should. His attention to detail is unbelievable, only uses Audi parts and labour rates are more then reasonable, in fact. I reckon he's to cheap, especially for the type of service you receive. +++

Mate, you're making me blush! :ROFL:
Thanks for the remarks, glad you're happy. The S8'll be all better soon!

The gearbox is out the car, and will collected by VMPT today, they should have it rebuild by Friday or so, then Ben can plonk it back in. +++

So far, so good Amar...and I'm sure that Ben won't be offended by the use of the word 'plonk' to describe his careful attention to detail ;)

:ROFL:

Sorry Ben! +++

I don't want VMPT to just change the components that have gone wrong, but rather any that should go wrong in the future. I know the reverse gear sometime packs up, so will tell them to pay attention to that. Does anyone know any other components which should not be overlooked? I'm not actually sure what a rebuild involves...

If they are any good mate they should inspect everything.

Ask them what is involved with a rebuild. Personally I would expect the gears to be replaced and the brain rebuilt with new components etc.
