Being picked up by CD Grant (Glasgow) who were recommended by A4 Audi. Really nice to deal with and competitively priced.

Spare key arrived this morning in Stranraer, so that's being reprogrammed later today.

I was cussing the '8 until I had to pick up my mum and dad from the airport in my daughter's Peugeot 206 (2 door) and had to squeeze 2x 84 year old parents into it. :(

Then this morning I had to come to work on the train and bus. It took almost 2 hours and (at the risk of a little political incorrectness) some of the company was not all it might have been! ;)

So, the '8 will be welcomed back with open arms!+++

I suppose I should close this off. Car is back with me now thanks to CD Grant - can't speak too highly of these guys.

I just spoke to the guy at AutoSparks in Stranraer who sorted the keys and he has no idea what caused it! Battery is fine, central locking vacuum pump is fine - the key simply 'lost' its ability to be recognised by the car.

But - apparently there is a problem still with the manual locking - it locks but doesn't unlock - so that's the next job! :(
