I would say 38-45 mpg all day long depending on how they are driven.
I averaged 44mpg driving around in an A6 allroad for a week recently and my A7 3.0 Tdi is averaging 40-44 even though my driving is a little more enthusiastic!

The A8 4.2 V8 on LPG will have similair fuel economy to a 2.5 V6 petrol engine'd car, but if the V8 noise is a must then LPG will make it a little cheaper to run, don't make the mistake I did, sell up a 50+MPG BMW 320D and expect the A8 4.2 LPG to give you the same return.

i sold my BMW 120d and got a Legacy LPG - it was the best thing I've done for ages. I had everything (toys) and the performance (242bhp) not to forget the practicality of an estate and the bullet-proof engine.....for the same MPG as the 120d + a little more for insurance.

But, I am a car-hopper (change of scenario) so have decided on an A8 - and judging from the forum here, It should be even better than legacy!

Again I could be wrong (figures from Parkers).
I weigh with buying a diesel or petrol_lpg, and parkers came back with something like 28-33 for diesel and 23 for petrol (4.2 quattro auto D2)

If I go for LPG, then the petrol would be doing abt 40mpg.

have I got this wrong, or are we talking abt modern diesels which are way out of my price bracket?
