Well done MG, I'm glad you got it running properly, you must be well pleased.
Seeing that gearboxes are repairabe almost makes me question my plan to do a manual conversion, but too late now I have all the parts.

I would much prefer a manual car to an Auto but there have been times when I'd prefer an Auto. Traffic jams and off-roading are two I can think of straight away.

This gearbox is used in the RS6 so strength is not in question, the reliability of any of after 100,000 miles is though.

Hmmm... I got a smiley face without realising how and now can't remove it. Ah well :D

A seriously fine piece of work, well thought out and accomplished with a fair few obstacles overcome with analytical thinking and engineering skills ++++++

You must be megga pleased with the result :)

Thanks, I'm pleased that it's up and running.

I'm not so please with my insurance company.

When I bought the car, I asked how much extra it would be to swap the policy. The answer was very low, under £50. Excellent. As I only wanted to drive it for a month or so.

Now that I've fixed it and it's ready to go, they've changed their minds. We made a mistake sir. The addition premium is an extra £560 for the remainder of your policy!!

I can get a new policy for less than that.

So now I'm faced with having to shell out around £700 just to drive it around for a while. GRRRRRR

It might be coming to pieces again very quickly!

Hell no! I was actually going to suggest a straight trade before you fixed the tranny, as I will shortly have no use for the ZF. Mine will be coming out soon, in favour of a built 01E.

Oh well!

Hey, no disrespect. I'm not doing this to prove a point or to try to annoy anyone.

For some, these cars are the be all and end all. For others, they're a pointless extravagance.

I'm into VW T3 Transporters. I bought this car because I wanted the engine and it was the cheapest way to get all the parts I need for the conversion.

I haven't decided one way or the other yet.

It all comes down to money.

Now that it's running, I want to drive it and make sure that I'm happy with the engine.

I want to run an Audi engine with over 350bhp, using the original ECU and injection system but as a manual.

This really is just about the only engine which ticks all the boxes and is affordable in the process.

I think you've gotten me wrong, I was just kidding. :respekt:

At the very least your rebuilt and inspected gearbox should raise a few quid on here as it's less of an unknown quantity than one that's just come out of a runner with unknown internals/service background and you'd have some confidence it'll last a good long while now +++
