As for the "test drive", I wouldn't be surprised at all. My mate had his RS4 in for a headlamp washer repair at an Audi main dealer and it had another 50 miles on the clock when he collected it!! He went ballistic but they denied taking it out, despite the evidence?!?:mad:

Needless to say, he never went back.

I always take a pic of the mileage and date/time on my phone when I drop the car off for work - pretty difficult to argue with that as evidence, although I'm sure a dealer would have a damn good try!

I'm getting about 30-31 mpg as an average from my 2008 Audi A8 3.0d TDI SPORT, mixture of city driving, country roads and a tiny bit of motorway... majority city though.

Here are some figures from my latest trip to Belgrade:
(2001 S8 manual)

There
2240.8km 208L
10.77km/L 6.7mpL 30.4mpg

Back
2162.7km 215.3L
10.45km/L 6.5mpL 29.5mpg

On the way back includes a climb up 2 smaller Swiss passes, which may account for the poorer mpg. Both trips include at least 400km of slow D-roads, the rest is motorway at 120kph or 130kph.

Hi Sergey, yes this was mostly with the 0.56 6th.
I miss the kick-down for overtaking, several times I forgot its not auto and stomped on it in 6th, and of course nothing happens. I have to practice and anticipate overtaking and downshifting to 5th or 4th.

I've just used the "photo option" for the valet parking at Manchester airport for my recent trip to Portugal and Spain over the last few days, and the total travelled miles was 4, so I was quite reassured really….

Exactly, same here. 31mpg is tops at just over the speed limit.
