Could this be due to the MMI software version? I am on a lowly 2120.

After finding out that my installed unit was fried - this could have been either me installing the MMI upgrade, or I bought a dud - I bought another replacement unit.

I have taken this unit and fitted it - and thrown away the fried one. It now works a treat. +++

One thing I aint doing is running disk 2 to update the phone module. At least this way I cannot fry the unit. The strange thing was that the first unit was only partly dead as much of the unit was visible to VAGCOM.

The only job left to do is get some to help at the annual meet to re-program the microphone and voice control as when trying to get the original unit working, the settings were changed hoping to get my unit working. My phone answers the calls but as the mic and voice control are set up wrong, I cannot talk to the caller. My voice control comes up as Button not used as it was re-set up to use the bluetooth in error.

Hello MAM, long time no see mate

If you have VCDS then it is a 1 minute job, I've had the same issue and we were scratching out heads with Del, Manny and PsYcHe.

here is solution

I will actually try to make it a shorter, clearer thread from it this week and ask Architex to make it sticky as this happens quiet regularly to people.

As above I used M-A8's thread to get mine back when I'd upgraded to Bluetooth, worked brilliantly +++

sorry had to revive this thread. I want to upgrade the phone in my d3 to BT, currently has fixed motorola phone. Is it just plug n play or do i need new cables etc?
cheers

You'd need the 34-pin connector block if that didn't come with the module, but apart from that, the rest of the cables are there.
