Remember, 'ouch' is not a safe word! :ROFL:

I guess I'm probably missing most (all) of the back story, but really the only question I have is - why? :Confused:

Because we can, and should, save as many D2s as we can so that our sponsors have owners to sell parts to! It's also got almost 250k on it and another 250 would be an achievement or what?

It was the cheapest 8 in the country by loads, came with 60 litres of stale fuel and a whole load of free parts (do I notice the drilled and grooved discs fitted) it's the best tow car I've used and it's got a blue interior :D
I hope I serves it's new owner well and genuinely think you'll get as much driving pleasure from it than an S, purely because you have total freedom not having to worry about winging it in a hedge at 90 if you overcook it slightly and you can park it where you like, no worries.
Have fun in it +++

Yes, the drilled & grooved discs are on as they were the best of the selection we had :)

Its probably worth mentioning that other than replacing the front seats, which were mysteriously missing (!), very little of what we've done has been anything unusual for a D2, or indeed the B5s and C5s which are my bread & butter. Most of it has been the same work I did on mine, what I'm expecting to do on the FE when it arrives too, and what I would expect most of them to need sooner or later. We've basically compressed 2-3 years maintenance in to 4 weeks. The alternator 'fix' is no different to what I would have done on my own car in the same situation.

At least I didn't have to take the engine out of this one! :D

Unpowdered blue nitrile gloves - one of my workshop essentials :) Its amazing how the super-thin material protects them, but it stops them getting snagged and dirty. Powder makes gloves easy to put on, but really dries the skin so I avoid that. The powser also sands off nail polish, but tbh I only use that for xmas parties :D

Try the Arco orange gloves, last far longer than the blue nitrile ones. Come in a pack of 50 but last much longer so you need less of them

Luckily they look like genuine seats in the Ambo because its a similar interior colour. I have photos but will up load when I'm not on a Stoopid phone
