help with phone
 

When I bought this S8 it didn't have the handset so I have just picked one up.
But it doesn't go where it should. Am I missing a cradle or is there another type of phone that fits?

Yes you need a GEN 2 Audi cradle which is designed to suit whatever mobile phone you want to use on it, or alternatively an RSAP adapter which clicks onto it and then you can use RSAP to communicate with compatible mobile phones. The handset you have there is to go into the pre-fitted armrest phone holder in a D3 armrest, either front or rear. I have a friend who is looking for such a phone if you want to sell it on then let me know, but it won't work with the GEN2 plate and cradle attachment you have there - sorry

There are many types of Adapter Cradle available and they are well expensive new from an Audi Dealer. You should be able to get a used depending on the type of phone you have. Example of one for an iPhone 5 attached

Well if the phone won't work with anything I can buy then I might as well get rid!!

I take it my 2006 S8 is gen 1 then as it's a series 1?

So I can't buy this and fit it into the arm rest?

It won't work, most people want to switch the other way so they can use bluetooth with their mobile - this requires a change in phone control unit.

No - your accessory plate in your car is Gen II
The phone you have bought is for the armrest mounted cradle / bluetooth phone system which needs a different module to work I would have thought

And if you go to the unit that will work with that handset, then you lose bluetooth functionality from your mobile.
