Tracking

Hi,

I need to get the tracking done on my 2002 S8, i dont mind doing it in london, oxford or coventry areas as they are the areas im mostly at. Also dont want to spend loads but want a good job done.

Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi KPS,
I believe my 3.7 is going to need some attention in that area, as I'm hearing a slight knocking on undulations, so after the fault has been found and fixed, I'll be heading to Silverline in Warwick, they have all the latest gear, and seem to be able to use it effectively. They may not be quite the cheapest, but my boy deserves the best, I'm sure yours does too!
Best regards,
Steve

If not too late, the previous owner of my 8 used Tyres Northampton and the print out looks very comprehensive with before and after measurements of Camber, Caster, Toe [left front and right front] Total Toe and Steer Ahead [front] and the same for the rear [minus Caster]

Booked in with Silverline this Wednesday, they didn't say how much it would be but reckon it will be expensive. Then again, I didn't buy the 8 to skimp here and there so she only gets the best.

Gentlefolk,
I had a 20+ year old Audi 100 1.8 done there after replacing all the wishbones, joints gaiters etc, from memory it was around the £50 mark a couple of years ago.
They pointed out that the tracking they had set was a compromise, but, they stopped it scrubbing the rubber ware out!!!
Dollar well spent I reckon, full printout etc!
My blue boy should be going to Silverlive presently when I have the reliability issues sorted.
A point to note, I believe tracking centres prefer to track tyres that have been used, so, before you replace the rubber, track it first!!!
Best regards,
Steve

They have done a few A8/S8s apparently and most of them have seized track control arms, they told me to make sure mine are okay before I brought it in. So need to get that done asap. When are you getting yours done? I live about 5 mins away, we could get ours done together?

Hi Amar,
I will do my own, as I have "trust" issues with others messing with my cars, I'm pretty good at repairing and maintaining vehicles, so, as I have a good garage, with hard standing at the rear, I'll make sure all the joints are free to move, and intact, but before I do any of that, I need to improve the reliability issues, which I believe is damp related, so I'll go through it all!
Nice idea to have two 8's together though, I'm sure it will happen!!!!!!
We'll have to meet for a friendly beer in the not too distant!!!!
Best Regards buddy,
Steve

Steve, just replied to your PM. I also have no local garage that I'd trust so if you could have a look for me that would be great +++
