2011 Annual Meet report
What a great day guys, really pleased I made it (eventually) +++
Shame I seemed to have so little time to mingle, and so wished I'd had the time to stop overnight tonight and have a few (more) beers :D Thanks to all the organisers, especially Neils awesome efforts on the treasure hunt which was way more fun than I was expecting, ragging the nuts off the D3 all over the countryside with Dave and Maria clinging on to maps, paper, pens and contents of the car as they flew everywhere... :D Before today I loved the D3 as my everyday motorway cruiser with some B road ability, today it excelled, elevating beyond that into the most fun I've had on back roads in a very long time. I've really got to grips with sports mode on the gearbox now, and I cant honestly remember the last time I used tiptronic, even though it was a staple diet on the D2 - The air suspension tightens up and takes every bump in a really taught and stiff way that the D2 never really managed half as well.... The D3 Sat Nav is so quick it keeps up with every move and wrong turn so much quicker than the D2's ever could. In summary, the best day I've had in a long time, driving the best Audi I've ever had the fortune to be behind the wheel of and enjoyed the company of some friends, old and new +++ |

Did the shopping in mine today and spared a thought for you as I took a 10 mile detour home. These cars are so good, worth a small bag of peanuts judging by the prices on ebay mind, but quite magnificent nonetheless. Even if I should fail to get rid of mine I shall be content, wrong bloody colour and all:D.
Wife psychology is thus: Spending 2 grand on the current one to bring it to Spec of S = bad. Spending 2 plus what I get for mine on an S8 = fine. ????? Sounds like all had fun, must admit that I am not the most sociable of bunnies but once the dust has settled I would like to engage a little more with people. If only to escape the fun that is exam season :) Bill |
