Stuff I found on my hard drive
If anybody wants any of these emailing, contact me at stephendsargent@aol.com.
1. Workshop manual in PDF format for the D3 (tried to upload, but it failed, only 4765 KB so not sure why?) 2. 2009/10 Teleatlas sat nav files (D2 sat nav) - could never get these to work, probably because my CD writer is not clever enough, but anyone else is welcome to have a crack. |
Also, am probably selling the Boxster in the Spring, will initally replace it with a diesel auto daily runner, thinking about the A6 2.0TDI, but I think this has a CVT box, can anyone confirm as I hate those gearboxes, the missus has got one on her Mini, it is truly horrid
|
You can get manual, cvt and now s-tronic gearboxes on the A6 2.0 tdi so it depends on the year. I beg you not to get a multitronic I hated the one in the A6 I had as a loaner a few months ago it sounded like a London taxi type gearbox noise when you drove it and it. Only had 500 miles from new on the clock. I can see it being lovely if all your miles were in London/any big city all of the time but for the love of god don't do it!!

Manual gearbox no good, the missus cannot drive them, despite what it says on her licence.
I thought S-Tronic was a CVT??? Far as I can see, the only way of getting a proper torque converter box from Audi, is to go Quattro, but this means a bigger engine and only 30mpg instead of 40mpg :( I've started looking at 335d Beemers instead :eek3: |

The only thing I didn't like was moving off which was always a bit hesitant, so I never felt confident pulling out of side roads into a busy main road. But once moving it was fine, quiet, effective and economical. Felt very weird at first the way the engine revs varied (or not), but I had it for quite a while and got used to it. |
Multitronic is Audi's alternative name for CVT.

Quattros get the proper Auto boxes :) |
Go for t 335d
If u can go for the 335d...just be careful in the wet...otherwise an absolutely awesome car!!!!!!! I m waiting for the 535 Quattro to hit t second hand market...!!!!!!!

S-tronic = DSG so basically flappy paddle dual clutch box which can be driven as full auto or 'manually' on the paddles
Not sure on a6 availability? My folks are car shopping at the moment in the used a4 class. Ended up looking at Mercs and Lexus IS250 which despite most adverts stating they're CVT apparently they are all a regular auto unless you go hybrid! Horrid cars but they won't break and the top spec SE-L has more toys than my S8! GS specs are the same in trim level terms I believe if you need something bigger? |
A little confused
Multitronic is the CVT box. S-Tronic is an automated manual? |
