Beeeeeep

Not sure if I'm posting in the correct place, but here goes....

Can't find anything else relating to the same issue on here so I'm asking for guidance. Since yesterday I've had a warning when putting the car into reverse, the continuous beep and asking if it's safe for me to reverse. The only thing I did was wash the car yesterday and the fault arrived just after. So, is it a failed sensor and is the only option to replace it? I'd obviously be happier if it's a common thing and there's a cheap, easy fix

Could be just water in the connector, do you know which ones not responding

Norretal 11th October 2015 07:01 PM

I don't have VCDS Del but I can get it scanned if that's what is needed. It's not really a problem, just more of an annoyance, I'd like to understand and fix it

Is it something your going to tackle yourself, the bumper can be a right pain in the behind to get off.

You may be able to determine which one is out by listening to them when reverse is engaged.

Did you use a power wash to clean the car?

Yes I did, but lightly just to rinse as it wasn't really dirty, is that a known cause?

Yes, never point a jet washer at the parking sensors, if they get a tiny amount of water in they are fubarred, had one on my Mercedes went haywire because of water ingress, and managed to reset it by connecting to diagnostics, not sure if this is possible with the Audi or not

I've washed it many times using the same method, guess I've just been unlucky this time.

Thanks, I'll get it scanned and find out which one is acting up

You see, I always knew it was possible to over wash a car.... I've always been a bit cautious like that.... ;)

Thanks for the helpful guidance Ian, I knew I could rely on you

Ian's parking sensors have always worked!!!!

Mine did exactly the same earlier this year. Strangely, during a visit to the Audi garage, driven by their pickup person. Never done it before.
Anyway. New sensor fixed it. Um two new sensors fixed it. How does that happen then? They got the wrong one first time, but it was not their fault.
Give it a few days and maybe it'll clear up

Yup, even through several layers of protective grime +++

I'm slightly ashamed to say the RS is current sat in the garage showing signs of its 1000+ mile trip round Germanys finest autobahms last month not having seen any sign of a wash since I arrived home and laid it up whilst I had my surgery....

Parking sensors work fine though :p

On the remote chance I decide ADI is a go-er, I've no idea how I'll get it clean.... Even my unique attitude to cleaning would prevent a drive though.... :tuttut:

Just for such people like you Ian, I have arranged for Aspect Valeting to be there in the show ground with their vans and equipment and they will do a basic wash snow foam and dry etc externally from £15 but very much NOT local hand car wash style!

If anyone wants to book their car in at a specific time then let me know and I'll sort it, otherwise you will be queuing up if any others are there first. +++

And for people like me. ;)

While I won't be at ADI, I was at AITP and used them there before parking up on the AudiSRS stand. :p

Sorted, replacement sensor from Prestige (£28 inc P+P) versus £98.64 for a new one from Audi (ready to paint)

Had it done while I had the MOT done, two advisories on rear tyres which isn't a problem as I'm swapping onto my FE wheels anyway while I get the standard wheels refurbished. Apart from the advisories nothing else, and no fault codes when it was scanned +++

Only other option I'd considered is having some decent winter tyres fitted to the standard wheels and keeping the FE's mint for a future sale. Any suggestions on good winter tyres for 20" wheels?

Architex_mA8tey 23rd October 2015 02:09 AM

I really rate Nokian for winter tyres +++
