Which connection? iPhone...
1 Attachment(s)
Hi all. I'm trying to work out which cable I need to connect my phone (for music), to my stereo.
It's a lot of stripping to just see a connection, and the car is my daily so just asking, should anyone know so I can just order the part and do it all at once... A pic of my radio is below. Any help appreciated! |
I think you will need 1 of these: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Aux-Line-i...QAAOSwF1dUR1OF

The radio should just pull out if you have the correct removal tools.
There will be a big 3-part (red/yellow/blue) connector on the back (among other connections). The blue is the CD part, you just slide the 3 parts apart and replace the blue block. Then reconnect - test before reinstalling the radio. Sometimes the connector is a single block on the loom and you have to acquire a short adapter lead. This has the big socket on one end and the 3-way splittable block on the other. |
So the radio pulls out? I don't have to pull the trim apart? That's a big help. These removal tools, Audi specific or normal stereo removal things?
Thanks for the help lads, just so paranoid about ruining the trim. |

Same seller I've used for quite a few bits and bobs.
Just check you have the four thin horizontal slots (but you will, or maybe just two). IIRC they feed in flat side out, see: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mSe7CnLmD58 |
Ah this is brilliant! Thanks lads, have ordered both there so that's much better!
Thank you again |
too expensive for me ; I bought 5 paring knives from a chinese bazaar for €1, narrowed a couple on the grindwheel et voila !
|
Haha yeah they are saucy alright.... But you know, I'll get herself to get it for Xmas for me!
|
Hi again.
I got the removal tools today but cannot see any place to insert them. Even around the stereo and trim is very very tight together so can't insert without damaging the trim. Any ideas? Thanks |

Great! Thank you. Have it out now, and cable in, however can't seem to switch it from the radio to the iPhone. I push the mode button and nothing happens. Hold it and I just get tp-mem and then the radio comes back.
What am I missing? |
Looks like you need CD changer connected as well to allow it to switch to CD mode and use that input. So you need spitter cable something like this to connect both: http://www.discountcarstereo.com/AA8-HAR.html
|
Which exact model radio is that, I don't recognise it?
|
Ah right that makes sense. I suppose I could also splice into the existing line in to make it connect too?
|
I don't see why not. You can also make splitter canble yourself if you want, you can get plugs and pins here: http://www.nexxia.co.uk/products.asp...O%20Connectors, probably on the e-bay as well.

Thanks again man for all your help! Really is appreciated.
