Any one in scotland help me out?
So updated the mmi tonite after fitting the digital tv and now its in component protection mode, now i know my local audi dealership have no intention of helping me no matter if i pay good money or not so wondering if anyones knew of any decent dealerships in scotalnd that no what there talking about and can help me?
|
Why won't your local dealer help?
Component protection is to prevent stolen parts and if the parts are legit the can't reasonably refuse you, if they do I would complain by letter or email to head office. As for dealers to help I'm afraid I don't know who is good up your way. |
i bought the dvbt tuner on ebay from Germany If i recall so i hope its legit:-(
Also Its more the fact no One at my Local Dealer knows what to do, i am Handy with vcds and can tell Them The exact problem Ect ect yet they arent really Interested in even booking the car in Im In No way stingy either im Happy to Pay "decent" money for the job which amazes me As they dont seem Interested at all |
What module(s) went in CP after the MMI update?
|
The sound system module according to Vcds
|
Has the amp two faults, Component Protection - No or Incorrect Basic Settings
and Component Protection Active? |
Yeah
|
Amp going into CP after MMI update is a common occurrence. As the amp is, I'm guessing, original to car it should be trivial to get it removed by the dealer.

There are a couple of independent Audi specialists not too far from you. One is A4 Audi in Clydebank and they do audio stuff too. And there's an auto electrician in Paisley that I can have a look for if that would help.

The one that causes the CP issue is the disk 2 which is entirely Blutooth features.
You need an Audi main dealer to take this off, theres no way round it. I would complain if they refuse, Ive had it done twice, the first was free, the 2nd when i put in a voice module cost me 23.60 All they have to do is attach it to the VAG device and follow the instructions on screen to remove CP, however it needs to be connected to the main server in germany, hence the need for a main dealer. its 5/10 minutes of actual time, i was in the dealers for less than 30 minutes total. |
Also remember that the TV unit does not have component protection, there is no need to declare you have fitted it, it was caused by a firmware update.

Superb help, much appreciated thank you very much.
I will Contact my local dealership aed with this info asap. |
I seem to remember my PF D3 doing this.. Pretty sure I ran through the disks again and cleared the errors with VCDS and it fixed itself, but that may just have been luck.
Pretty sure A4Audi can do CP removal now. |
A few independents also have the dealer equipment and tend to charge less and be more relaxed about it. I used http://www.audivwsc.co.uk as an example and they had the full VAS and connection to Germany. It took 5 mins tops although he did stretch it out to more like 20.
