Graphical PDC module for sale.
I spotted this on ebay. Not mine but thought I'd flag this up for people looking for the graphical upgrade. The photos have the correct 'C' revision, description does say 'A'. Could be worth checking.

Glad someone bought it +++
It's a straight swap with your existing module (it's next to the radio in the boot left hand side secured to the wall around the rear suspension strut). Coding will be the same as your current. It may need to be enabled from the MMI menu. |

Doubled check the coding and yes, you're correct, bit 2 need updating with a 2 or 3. See below +++

Coding the control unit |
Thanks Guys; at least I now know where the ECU is, which will hopefully be a simple swap.
As to coding, I assumed it would'nt need changing as it would retain its coding from the previous car, although I HAD looked at the VCDS label file for the ECU to see what could/might be set. But now your comments have set me thinking; it may have the parking aid bit set but the ECU could well have been coded differently for other options the car might have had, so I will need to set it appropriately for my car with VCDS. WIth regard to the MMI menu, I've never seen the parking aid in the MMI; am I right in assuming that the control head will 'see' the different ECU/coding and adapt the MMI menus to include the extra parking aid info? Previously you will have the parking aid in the MMI somewhere as you can set the volume of the beeps. |

Yeah, quite a bit of VCDS documentation is out of date or missing. I keep all what I find / discover in my own notes.

Julian, I was thinking of beating you to it but then remembered that with reversing camera view in the MMI it would not work for me.
I have fitted an x-car link for the reverse camera and it takes control of the MMI blanking all other system feeds. Hope that load of drivel makes sense. :D |
Job done ...
PDC ECU turned up at 1015am.
Slightly tricky to remove three connectors from the car's ECU until I realised I needed a screwdriver to push the tabs in. Plugged the connectors into the replacement ECU. Turned ignition on; connected VCDS and scanned the ECU. Coding needed changing; it was 0201008 [optical parking, automatic, etc.] but I've got fingerprint reader so needed 0301008. Scanned and found fault code from July 2016; cleared that. Didn't need to do anything to MMI; just pressed button on dash and visual display came up. Job done - 25 mins from the time the packet arrived. Julian Thanks for spotting that one Matt! |

I have just had a thought.
I could use the graphical for checking clearance except when reverse gear is engaged. |

I had a read through the above, and am very grateful for the info, thanks! :)
A bit old hat to most of you I think, but, seeing as I've recently updated the MMI 2G to 5570, I thought I'd have a go at the graphic PDC upgrade. The PDC upgrade didn't work until the MMI update was installed. Old PDC module with just the beeps: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1615940453 Address 76: Park Assist Labels: 4E0-910-283.lbl Part No SW: 4E0 910 283 A HW: 4E0 919 283 B Component: Parkhilfe 8-Kan H12 0020 Revision: --.--.-- Serial number: 08730410705079 Coding: 0001008 Shop #: WSC 02313 785 00200 VCID: 211FE2479DC914935CC-8074 No fault code found. New (used) PDC module with beeps and graphics: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1615940725 Address 76: Park Assist Labels: 4E0-910-283.lbl Part No SW: 4E0 910 283 C HW: 4E0 919 283 C Component: Parkhilfe 8-Kan H12 0040 Revision: 00H12000 Serial number: 08740819200442 Coding: 0201008 Shop #: WSC 02313 785 00200 VCID: 2313E84F87D506834E0-8076 No fault code found. And now, when reverse gear is selected, the screen shows this: http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1615942225 http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/attachmen...1&d=1615942347 Well I think it's pretty neat anyway +++ |
Glad you got another upgrade sorted, and thanks for posting the detail, it may well help someone else in the future +++
