SQ5 fake exhaust tips

1 Attachment(s)
Whilst most brands are now opting for the fake exhaust tip look, this surely takes the biscuit, especially on such a tuned and competent car.

The fake look is certainly helping lower spec models look like more 'able' cars, such is the point I suppose, sells units.

That is shockingly cynical, even by auto manufacturing standards. Never mind that they stuck an 'S' on a soot chucker.

S is for......

Too right, and if you want you can add a V6 or V8 sound track too, WTF are these people on, think I said before S or RS badges should never be on anything diesel, and for those who add speakers...well shooting would be too quick for them IMHO...+++

I could always contact this company and bring one back for you brian as I am in 'the land down under' at the mo'?

In my opinion, this is just one example of how far - in the wrong direction - Audi have moved from the "Vorsprung Durch Technik"-driven philosophy that made them different - and better - than other companies in the past. That's why I've lost interest in them as a company over the last few years, and decided to focus on one that's pushing the boundaries in a way that they seem to have forgotten.

The new SQ5 is petrol engined +++

Just saying...

mattylondon 30th March 2017 01:42 PM

Yep, the FY platform SQ5 is petrol.

Still no excuse for fake tips, unless it's a 2.0tfsi dressed up for press photos.

Fast forward to 2:00

(here - https://youtu.be/0gxH6BMWN9M)

It's essentially an Audi Head Office marketing "suit" spinning the "Vorsprung" philosophy by suggesting that a combined "Gas and Gasoline" car is helping them achieve carbon neutrality.

And the name of this - G-tron. E-tron is dead, long live G-tron?.

RS6 30th March 2017 09:49 PM

 seeing this more and more now on most new cars!

Quite, it's a petrol V6T, why put that horrid bend in the actual exhaust and dress the car with the obviously blank, fake tips?

Audi's Macan I suppose......

I have noticed during my current sojourn in Perth (Australia) that Avants are not common at all. They go for the sedan - I saw two RS 5's today - but it's mainly (if not almost exclusively) the SUV which is "king" over here in all its different makes, models and forms. So it's aimed at a different market which really likes this format.

I was going to ask if anyone remembers the Ford Sierra Ute? And what would you know, I saw one on the road today, first time in about 20 years!
