2017 Germany Annual Meet Thread - 11/12/13th August
 

Hi Peeps

Just thought I'd update you all on this year's Annual Mad Drive across Europe and back to the A8 Owners Annual Meet in Germany!

Its their 10th Anniversary Meet this year and I'm trying to get a total of 10 cars to arrive in a group there as a tribute!!!

Details:
Joint A8-Freunde & A8-DE meeting in Germany
Dates: Fri 11th - Sun 13th August 2017
Venue - Waldhotel Schaferburg, Kassell, Germany

So believe it or not we currently have 7 CARS going from the UK plus we are picking up Fred the Dutchie in Holland on the way through!! :D

Schedule / Agenda is roughly:
- Ferry from Dover to Dunkirk at about 4pm arriving 7pm French time
- Drive to Holland to Gorinchem (Staying the night here - meeting Fred)
- (Drivers coming from Hull > Rotterdam also meet at Gorinchem as it is close)
- Friday morning at leisure - Drive to Espenau in Germany
- Friday Evening - German Beer and Hospitality (Did I mention German Beer?)
- Saturday - Main Meet day and cruise, plus evening meal together and trophies etc
- Sunday - Brekkie and gentle awakening with hangover depart for Dunkirk
- Sunday 18:00 Dunkirk to Dover arriving 19:00
- Onwards to home

Costs are about £190 for ferry return including speedy boarding and club lounge
(well we ARE 8 owners lol)
£50 for hotel in Gorinchem (Campanile Hotel)
80 Euros a night (single) for Bed Brekkie and evening meals at Espenau (130 euros double)
Fuel - about 3 tanks of fuel plus getting to Dover

Seeing 60-70 Audi A8's and S8's in one place . . . . PRICELESS!!

Looks like a great trip, which I've yet to make :(. I'm still trying to make this work, and the odds are increasing, but still low, and I would be coming via Hamburg, probably only for part of Saturday and Sunday, and will update you if it becomes definite.

Apologies, no chance this year for Gwen and I.
We keep hoping to make it, after all I spent nine years in the area.
Our current situation makes it impossible, maybe in a couple of years when the kids finally beggar off.

The Saturday event will take place at the tuning factory SLS-Tuning at Hofgeismar (at a distance of 25 km to the hotel).

Up to 30 vehicles will be allowed to use their brandnew all-wheel power-absorption roller. Price is 75 € including performance diagram

No its a power run, if anybody offers you a remap under £300 run away!!
you get what you pay for with remaps. done in a carpark no dyno

A dyno run to see how many ponies its lost since new ? Dont vw often have more than the stated power when new? I guess they wont anymore since the cheating.

Right - back on thread :tuttut:

Your top team including your Romping and Raving reporters are poised and prepped to zoom off again on the mad dash across Europe known as the A8/S8 German Annual Meet! :D

We've all been fettling with our cars (thanks to MikkiJayne) to make sure they are appreciated and loved before the mad romp abroad and mine is now cleaned and undercover awaiting finer skies tomorrow for the trip to Dover and on to Gorinchem in Holland where we are meeting up with Fred (D2 W12 6.0) who lives there.

The plan is for Myself & MikkiJane (D2 A8), CTL (D2 S8) and Delboy (D3 S8) to head across late afternoon to Dunkirk and then Chris AOC (D3 A8 Sport) and Tomas and David (D3 S8 Vossen) will come across Friday Morning Via a pincer movement from Hull to Rotterdam and Dover to Calais respectively before we all meet up in Holland and head off as a convoy of 6 cars!

We have walkie talkies with little or no range so we should all end up getting nicely lost or split up so lets all hope we can keep together. . . . photographic evidence to follow along with updates at all stages - you WILL all be sad you didnt come along and you WILL all almost be able to taste the Zwei große biers when we get there! :D

You are absolutely right about being sad I can't come along :-(
But I do not dare take my S8 on an extended trip, even if I have a vacation.
The front suspension is really bad. I am waiting for a Meyle kit to replace the old ****... eh.. I mean the old parts

Awesome that you've made it across the Channel, it was a pleasure to see you here in Germany!

German meet Friday afternoon (maybe a bit early) - every third car a UK car :Confused: and they even brought their own weather as can be concluded from the umbrellas on the picture!
