average age of private A8/S8 owner

anyone ever tried to estimate this based on the membership here ?
from his comments I know that tc4332 is nearly as old as I am and from mentions of retirement there are a number who must be 60 plus but I suspect that there are not too many youngsters
in case anyone wants to try estimating I can offer 78 !

steamship 29th October 2017 12:50 PM

I'll respond with 55.

moltuae 29th October 2017 01:47 PM

I'm 47 and 1/4

I've owned 8s (all 4.2 V8s) for about 15 years now so I started fairly young I guess. I've always preferred larger cars though. I owned 2 XMs before the 8s, the first of which when I was only in my mid-twenties.

RICKY D 29th October 2017 02:04 PM

Ive just turned 36.

I think was 32 when I got my first A8.

clubadria 29th October 2017 03:40 PM

I'm nearly 53, the car is to technical for me and the nearly acquired vcds is taking some getting used to, thank god for people on here.
I bought my first audi at 21 85c coupe 1.8 from audi an dealer at Lincoln.

Conquistador 29th October 2017 04:15 PM

Well I'm 26 now, think I got my first D3 when I was 21/22 then the D2 S8 a couple of years later and now this D3 for the last couple of years. +++

Spanker 29th October 2017 05:18 PM

50

David's8 29th October 2017 06:04 PM

Well, I'll admit to 65. So that just bounced the average up to 51.15 so far

The_Laird 29th October 2017 06:22 PM

Why? Isn't ageism illegal? We get a massive mix at the meets, from maybe late 20s and early thirties to 60 plus (I'm 63 if it really matters). Shall we do do a sex audit, a race audit, an economic audit? We're just '8 enthusiasts who seem to get along pretty well, despite any differences in age or any other criteria.

We're supposed to relax as we get older Jim, cool your jets man

You're never only ten years older than me mind!! Must be all that pent up anger that's aged you....

David's8 29th October 2017 06:51 PM

Average now 52.525. :p
......Though this could come down fast if someone has an apoplectic fit.

tc4332 29th October 2017 07:31 PM

Old Nick is correct, I'm only 77.
BUT next month will see the start of my 79th year.

Conan_the_Librarian 29th October 2017 08:18 PM

I'll push the average up a bit
Physically 58, mentally 12.

And all equally besotted with our steeds, that's what I like, a great mix of ages and backgrounds. +++

Delboy 29th October 2017 11:37 PM

43 now. Can't remember how many years I've had the 8 now though. :o

Ameiseuk 30th October 2017 03:46 AM

1781cc 30th October 2017 05:18 AM

Wow, whats got the old codger wound up? It's prolly an age thing. I hope I don't get like that when I grow up.

40 and 8 less atm, do I even count?

Johnmed 30th October 2017 06:31 AM

I’m 37, bought my D3 three years ago this December. I have had a hard life, and no doubt look 38.

pete-p 30th October 2017 08:06 AM

Well, I don't often think of myself as being one of the 'young ones' but I'm 37 for a few more months. It's good to see such an age range here. :)

David's8 30th October 2017 08:49 AM

These youngsters are bringing the average down a bit - now 50.111 (including Dezzy for honorary reasons but ignoring Conan's mental age :p)

M-A8 30th October 2017 09:21 AM

34

Mentally still a naughty kid who refuses to grow up, own cotton slippers (or sandals), read newspaper every day at the set time and all that old man stuff :D

Owned D3 for 6 years

MikkiJayne 30th October 2017 09:22 AM

44. Got my first D2 at 28 and was smitten. Had the current one for 2 years now, got the FE 1 year ago, and they appear to have made a couple of 2.8s between them...

johnny_quattro 30th October 2017 10:22 AM

Scraping in at just 49, although the 'big' birthday is only in a week or so. I've had an A8 for the last 11 years.

tc4332 30th October 2017 10:38 AM

Big fifty.
The one I dreaded as it loomed was my thirtieth. Never did find out why!!!
Remember thinking that if I made 2000 I'd be an old man, so I guess I am now an Old Man Plus Seventeen.
Hmmm! Seventeen sounds pretty good like that.:D

Makes you realise how shockingly short life is when you break in down like that. When you consider that at 16 you're still just a kid and that 16 years is a very short amount of time ..

At 32, you've been 16 twice.
At 48, you've been 16 three times.
At 64, you've been 16 four times.
At 80, you've been 16 five times.

And, if you're lucky enough to make it past 96, you'll have been 16 just six times.

Architex_mA8tey 30th October 2017 11:39 AM

I celebrated the 31st anniversary of my 21st Birthday this year! :eek3:

Joe2.0E 30th October 2017 07:16 PM

41 but had my first A8 at 34.
I always considered them to be an old mans car but 7 years on, there is no better way to munch the miles.

tonupkid 30th October 2017 07:30 PM

63. My 'crotchety old git' symptoms multiply like rings on a tree, but Jim wins with the best manifestation of this +++
We should get together and put the world to rights

Well, the average is now 48.78 so, as 45 is the new 35, then it ain't an old mans car. Just one for the discerning driver +++

RS6 30th October 2017 09:39 PM

32 years old

love big barges!

tc4332 31st October 2017 07:30 AM

Hang on Nick, you are a mere youngster.
I think there are a few others, including me, who have a greater claim to "The Miserable Old Git's Club".
Does this warrant a new section just for us moaners and "better in the good old days" folk so that none of you youngsters have to put up with our ranting?

Audidothat 31st October 2017 08:44 AM

I’m 43.

Bought my first Audi for my 21st Birthday, a 20V Coupe Quattro, I LOVED that car. Am now on only my 2nd 8 though, I had a D2 3.7 about 20 years ago!!!

27litres 1st November 2017 09:51 AM

Not quite 42 (I'm a Christmas Baby!).

2 S8's now... I'll have to see if they breed like Michaela's!

jamoca 1st November 2017 11:27 AM

Was 32 when I got my '8...

And going down too - 47.78yrs. Should make you feel younger Neil, with all these young "whippersnappers" owning these cars. If I take out (not literally, of course:tuttut: ) Oldnick and tc4332, it drops to c42yrs!

briang9 1st November 2017 08:03 PM

61 and a wee bit here, that probably buggers up the average again:D
