Highest factory spec car

Prize value £20 A8parts discount voucher to be redeemed before 30th June 2010. We will decide the winner between 26th and 31st December so happy new year to the winner...

We need photo evidence of all factory options fitted to your car. The car with the highest number of ticks in boxes wins. Remember, this is one of those weird compos where a 2.8 has a good chance as something like an S8 has loads of kit as standard... :D

Enjoy +++

CliveH 15th December 2009 12:26 PM

My S8

No entries in here yet...? :Confused:

As Ian says, it's quite possible that a 2.8 A8 will easily 'outspec' mine in terms of factory options, but I'm gonna have a go anyway - full details to follow this evening... ;)

tintin 15th December 2009 03:33 PM

OK, here's mine

In the spirit of my understanding of this competition, I will list only those items which are factory options (and not all the standard features).

The factory/dealer options are :-

* Bose sound system
* TV tuner with teletext for Sat Nav Plus
* Electric rear blind and manual side blinds
* Heated rear seats
* Solar panel tilt/slide sunroof
* Autodipping interior and exterior mirrors
* Multifunction tiptronic steering wheel
* GSM Phone preparation in passenger arm rest
* Xenon plus headlights
* Servotronic speed sensitive power steering
* Enhanced Leather pack III including leather to lower half of dashboard, sides of transmission tunnel and alcantara covering to roof, parcelshelf and upper A/B/C pillars

The only modifications which have been made to the car are an R8 oil filler cap and 'S' style valve caps ;)

Early facelift ones didnt.... It became an option on the A8 4.2 around the time the S8 was launched in 1997. By Facelift, it became standard kit... +++

Ok, so a lovely lovely car, but fundamentally no additional factory options over basic 'S8 final edition spec'... Shame, but score of 0.... +++

Special paint
towbar
Bixenon
Auto dimming
Heated front screen with heat & UV reflective glass (came as one item)
Tv tuner (Sat nav was standard on S8)
Handsfree GSM phone prep

Score of 7 for Darren.... not bad.. +++

Im having to assume its a 2.8 sport, as it has sports s/wheel and lots of heater leather. Odd it has 17" rims though.. It would be highly unusual for it to be a non-sport with that kit, but post a photo and we'll confirm +++ If it isn't a sport, you pick up at least 3 more points :-)

Extras (assuming its a sport)

Bose
Binds
Solar
Twin Pane
Heated rear seats

Score of 5 (pending photo review)... :D

Ok, so I'm going to have to be strict in order to give anyone a chance of competing with Clive, who has my old motor +++

So, extra factory options are:

Bose
TV Tuner
Solar Roof
Auto Dip mirrors
Multifunction tip steering wheel
GSM phone prep
Xenon plus
Servotronic
Enhanced leather pack 3 (includes blinds & Heated rear seats)

The RS Entertainment was technically a dealer fit option, and I'm not sure as to whether the 20" wheels were definitely available to order at the time that car was built, so they might be more of an aftermarket enhancement, but at 9 points its a clear leader, and if anyone gets too close to that, I'm feeling fairly confident that Dolphin Grey may well have been special order paint, which would get another point in there.... I'd have to double check though +++

PsYcHe 16th December 2009 01:10 PM

Were Clive's factory fitted options of A8Parts fitted options?

CliveH 16th December 2009 01:36 PM

A bit of both I think Richard, so we'll have to let Ian adjudicate on that, as he knows exactly what the answer is... ;)

Singh 16th December 2009 03:57 PM

Oli might be in with a chance on this, I was just looking through old threads on the photo gallery section of the forum.

Reffro 16th December 2009 07:28 PM

OK, I'll give it a go, forgive some of my descriptions but I have the following fitted to my 2002 S8, in Avus Silver.

The factory options I have are :-

Bose sound system
TV tuner with teletext for Sat Nav Plus
Electric rear blind and manual side blinds
Heated rear seats
Metal Sunroof - dunno if this was optional
GSM Phone preparation in passenger arm rest
Xenon plus headlights
Servotronic speed sensitive power steering
Enhanced Leather pack III including leather to lower half of dashboard, sides of transmission tunnel and alcantara covering to roof, parcelshelf and upper A/B/C pillars
Rear seat entertainment including drop down Sony 7" screen, 10 disc Sony DVD changer and Sony playstation with 2 infra red headphones all colour co-ordinated and integrated seamlessly into the rear. This was factory fitted in my car.
5 x 20" 9 spoke 'RS4 style' Final Edition wheels.
Leather/Alcantara Recaro front seats with the rear seats trimmed in full leather.

Plus my car went through the Individual by quattro program. Some interesting trim and colour options, including the Avus Silver paint, tan/cream interior colour and black painted brake callipers. To be honest I can't say what of this was optional or not.

Hmmm... Sounds interesting, and rather a yummy colour combination too... Sunroof was standard in UK on D2, and its really interesting if you have half alcantara/leather front seats, but full leather rears... That would be unique... Photos would really help me decide exactly what you've got there !!

I'm afraid i won't beat a number of the people here as mine was a 4.2 Q (non sport) which had a lot of options put on afterwards by Ian and Dave....sports seats, sports suspension, RS entertainment pack to name a few....

I'll try and compete in the other categories though! +++

Hmmm.. From memory:

Solar roof, Sat Nav, TV, Bose, Blinds, Servotronic, Xenons makes 7....

GSM phone and autodip mirrors were standard early facelift.

It did have electric heated rears, skit hatch & multifunction steering wheel also before we 'sported' it, which would have seen you pretty much on top...<doh> +++

Singh 18th December 2009 04:50 PM

I think the low spec factory cars deserve more pampering from
A8 Parts, mine came with nothing, not even auto dimming mirrors. Mind you Audi reckon I have a special order paint!

B@fink 18th December 2009 06:16 PM

so, how would i tell if its a sport? Anything i should take a picture of to see its spec. The seats are not sporty figure hugging types, just big old armchairs in black leather, it don't got quattro, and being debadged it doesn't say what it is.....the documents just call it a 2.8 auto :/

darrenjoe90 18th December 2009 08:17 PM

Upping this score to 9 for Darren, as he also has Bose and servotronic... Only just realised that he doesnt have blinds though, which is usually one of the first options ticked.....

So, that puts Darren on 9, and Clive on 9.

I've also double-checked the S8 brochure, and Dolphin grey was a standard colour, so no extra points there for Clive.....

Its neck and neck.... +++

IT 26th December 2009 11:16 AM

Right, so this is looking like a draw right now, so I have a proposition:

Under the normal rules, the prize would be split 50 / 50, however in the spitit of making it a little more interesting, I propose that we offer a 'double or nothing' option for the two competitors where we could decide the winner based on the highest value of factory options fitted.....

The winner of this decider would thus get the whole prize, and the loser would get nothing, but would get an itemised list of options fitted to their car....

Let me know your thoughts guys, if you both agreee i'll dig out the price guide as i've genuinely no idea right now whos would win.... +++

CliveH 26th December 2009 11:22 AM

I'm happy with that Ian +++ (and havent, honestly, compared the 2 lists to see which might be ahead...)

darrenjoe90 26th December 2009 11:33 AM

you the "boss" ian. i go with that. pistols at dawn then clive +++

IT 28th December 2009 10:13 PM

Ok, so here are the results....:

On the road price of the basic car, inc VAT etc = £54760

Option prices:

Special order paint £940
Towbar £850
Bixenons £185
Auto Dip mirrors £490
Heated Front screen £350
TV Tuner £705
GSM Phone Prep £400
Bose £500
Servotronic £265
Solar Roof £510
Multifunction S/wheel £135
Enhanced Leather pack III £3995 (yes, nearly 4 grand... )

So, Darren comes in at £4685 worth of factory options, where Clive comes in with a staggering £7185 making Clive the winner of this compo....

CliveH 28th December 2009 10:22 PM

Yippee!

Thanks Ian +++

Well, it all adds up and amazing how much the Leather Pack III was!

When you then add in the FE wheels and rear entertainment system, the total cost of the car would have been pushing towards £70k...

B@fink 31st December 2009 05:03 PM

congrats.....now can someone tell me what makes a sport a sport so i can figure out if mines a jumped up sport or a rare rogue standard '8.....please :)

Singh 31st December 2009 06:14 PM

3 Spoke steering wheel although some standard A8s can also come with these as standard. But you will also have lower suspension (30mm?) Recaro seats, they say recaro on the side towards the carpet. It will also have 245/45/18 sport alloys.

B@fink 1st January 2010 07:13 PM

Not reccaro seats and its got 17" competition 'loys so its a rare rogue '8, Joy, from the previous post i reckon i must get 8 points then :D i'll take a proud second!

thebluewhale 1st January 2010 07:29 PM

You can check your options at the web site below

http://igorweb.org/equidec/

The sticker in the spare wheel well in the boot has the codes and also in the service book IIRC. Just type them in and you get a list of your factory fitted options.

Mine had sod all.

If this has been posted before in the same thread I apologise but I'm finishing off the wine from last night and can't be arsed reading the thread again. :D
