Where to get old style S8 rear emblem?
 

The title says it all. This old rectangular rear emblem, 4D0853735A is no longer available. The replacement part is the new style logo, 4D0853735A 2ZZ.

Any ideas where the get the old one?? I've been looking on eBay but all I can see are the newer logos. I haven't been able to find one from used Audi parts dealers either.

Any advice is appreciated!

I tried and tried and tried many years ago after my PF was repaired and they put a new style emblem on having stupidly discarded the old one.

I did get one eventually (possibly from our sponsors?) but it was pretty "tired".

The later PF models did I believe have the new style emblem from the factory.
I'd be amazed if you could find an old style one now, let alone in any decent condition.

Not sure about that Andrew. I've seen the old style logo on early FL cars in photos.
My 2001 also has the old logo in the steering wheel.

In fact, I would appeal to someone with an early FL who may appreciate switching to the newer logo!

Someone may have one kicking about from a rear de badging.

You are probably right, I was pretty sure the badging change didn't coincide with the Facelift, just seems like I got it the wrong way round! :ROFL:

Using up a stockpile I expect, instead of saving them for people like Heksi... No forethought for owners 20 years down the line!! :D

That's the right style but it looks like it's for the grille not the boot.

My 2000 face lift has the new style badge on the boot but the grille and internal emblems (steering wheel and dials) are all the old style!

The emblem for the grill is smaller in size. Otherwise, I would buy one and stick it to the boot lid. I wouldn't mind finding an emblem even in poor condition, as I guess it could be refurbished.

Good luck finding new one, it has not been stocked by Audi since 2001. For the used one it's probably best to look for somebody breaking old S8 on e-bay and asking them if they have the right badge for sale.

Also would like to mention that 2ZZ is not what determines old/new part, its just a colour code for chrome which applies to both new and old style. The difference is in A, old style is 4D0853735 without A.

What about something very similar if you can't source the S8 one, and a little bit of work with a dremmel (or local jeweller). There are the old style S6 emblems available on eBay for 39 euro:

I know somebody who has just bought a Pre Facelift 4.2 A8 which has an original S8 Badge on the rear of it and is likely to remove it and sell it if you are interested, looks to be in good condition but if you PM me your details then I will get him to contact you direct when he's removed the badge +++

Was it a 4 speed in the end?

Unfortunately not it's a five speed but at 70k on the clock.might be worth putting it on a gearbox oil change programme going forwards
