Biggin Hall Mini-Meet - 1pm Sunday Lunch, 3rd Nov 2019

Apologies for the short notice but, since we're well overdue for a northern mini-meet this year, and rapidly running out of time to get one in before the end of the year, a few of us have arranged a mini-meet at the lovely Biggin Hall, which some of you will remember if you attended last year's annual meet at the Peak District.

https://www.bigginhall.co.uk/restaur...unch-menu.html

https://www.telegraph.co.uk/travel/d...in-hall-hotel/

Meet-up is at 1pm on Sunday November 3rd, and we'll be eating shortly after that.

For anyone wishing to stay over, there are (presently) just 3 or 4 rooms still available for Saturday night but numerous rooms available for the Sunday night.
Contact Biggin Hall directly if you'd like to book a room: 01298 84451

EVERYONE is welcome to come along, even if you're not dining or plan to turn up in something other than an 8*

* Lesser vehicles may however be required to use a different car park :p

If you're thinking of coming along, please add your name to the thread, including the number of people, and whether or not you'll be dining, so that we can let Biggin Hall know in advance.

A few photos of Biggin Hall:

1. Jim & Christine (The Laird). Unfortunately in Christine’s mini, as I can’t drive after a shoulder op. Staying for lunch, but not overnight.

TC4332 Ray. Me, myself, alone. As long as the world does not explode. Dining but not staying overnight.

That's a pity Roberto. Hopefully we'll see you at the next one.

I find ColdZyme works well. Prevents colds if you catch it early enough and gone in half the time if not.

Hi Jim
FB stands for the folks on the FACEBOOK "A8 & S8 UK Owners Group" page who have expressed an interest but aren't on this forum.

(I'm making an assumption but I think it is a very fair assumption :))

Correct! +++
I'm trying to keep it updated with those saying they are definitely coming (following that up with messages to them to get dinner and or cream tea numbers for the hotel) and those that are "possibles"

Evening All.
Home safe by 20:00, Jordan fell asleep as we climbed towards The Cat & Fiddle.
I have to admit the return drive was a little awkward with the rain and my rather damp eyes. I'm still shaking with the shock. Of course if you did not attend you will not know of which I am drivelling about.
We had a fair old crowd for what was supposed to be a North West Mini Meet, usually three or four cars. Biggin Hall did us proud but that is not unexpected, really good find Mark.
What I didn't know until after I'd arrived that I had been gang upped on. People had decided that they wanted to celebrate my 80th in grand style. I was oblivious of the machinating going on behind my back, messages contacting my family to make sure that I attended.
Oh bugger it, let's be frank,
It was the biggest surprise of my life, took my breath away, gave me palpitations, I'll never be the same again.
I even landed up with a ride in the fastest shed!!!
I thank you all, for the surprise, the prezzies, your attendance, your thoughts and the Birthday Cake. Now that was a cake. I've promised the engine section to the beautiful MJ. That is I ever manage to cut into it.
Words fail me.

There must be a way to make photos stand up!!!!

It couldn't have happened to a better person Ray. You're an inspiration to us whippersnappers, and long may it continue... Are you now the official club mascot?

I'll be happy to be anything you want me to be.
With friends like you lot I'm OK with anything as long as it does not include me perching at the top of a pole after stuffing me.

I prefer Apple Sauce to Stuffing!

Long may it continue Ray! :D

It was just one of those meet ups which turned into a great one, driven off the back, I have to say, of some careful realisations and schemings by Moltaue (Mark & Lyn), and ably assisted by The Laird (Jim & Christine) who did lots of orgainising of the venue, the cake and of people to make them aware (behind the scenes) of what was going on! Sprinkle in a little bit of magic added by the attandance at the meet of Kevin Nicks and his "Fastest Shed" (a V8 RS4 powered record breaking Garden Shed on wheels) and all the fabulous owners and their cars who attended (thank you to EVERYONE who made it!)

I'll shortly upload a selection of pictures from myself and Arek (a new member of the group who drove up from Oxfordshire to attend because "it sounded like a fun thing to do"!) for your delight and delectation! . . .. .

It was a bit of a worry that you might drop out at the last minute and that we'd all have to commemorate your Birthday without you!

Plan B would've been to send you the photos as we ate your cake and opened all your presents. ;)

Fortunately, plan A went rather well +++

It was a very enjoyable day with great company. Thanks to Jim and Neil for helping to organise it (the inclusion of the Fastest Shed was a brilliant idea and a great addition Neil!).

Just to clarify, it was Mark and Lyn who came up with the idea, organised the venue and the brilliant cake! I was happy to help with a bit of admin :)

Great venue, a perfect excuse for a celebration - worth it just to see Ray's expression...+++ - and brilliantly organised by Mark (+Lyn), Neil & Jim. Each of whom have lots of "form" when it comes to organising our events, so we really shouldn't be surprised, though without them this forum just wouldn't be the same.

Well done guys - & girl - it was an inspired and perfect event.

And Happy Birthday Ray - I still can't quite believe that you're (nearly...) 80
