The only times I've bought direct from Audi, I've slapped a deposit down immediately.

Its the only way to guarantee its yours as it takes it off sale. You can always back out easily enough after, but if its 'on sale' there is a whole showroom (or other branches in a bigger franchise) full of sales folks looking at that thing being available, and they will just sell it if a punter rocks up.

Used Car sales are cut throat at the best of times, but at the moment the market is poor, so I can see how you got left behind.

I don't agree with it per se, but its the way of the world. If you want it, show your money and secure it.

Also, scour the Audi uk used cars website. I found cars usually go up on there first, often before they're into stock yet. Only if they fail to get snapped up immediately did they seem to trickle down to Autotrader.

Presume they’re delivering it to you, given current restrictions? Be interesting to hear if it’s been honestly described when you clap eyes on it 👍

If not, send it back.....

I bought a Q7 2/3 years back now. Returned it twice. To Southampton on a truck they sent. Had an A6 loaner for weeks. Final time it came back the driver had strapped the wheels badly and rubbed off the paint on the alloys. They also misplaced one of its keys and to be honest, I'd lost all love with it by then. So cancelled it. Sent the guy home. Unwound the finance, returned my deposit, cancelled all the Audi aftercare products. Right admin pain for them.

They relisted it that day for 4 grand more to cover their costs, it still sold straight away. It was one heck of a spec on it.

and its quite legal to fetch a car from a Main agent atm

i have had 2 videos 1 of the bodywork interior etc
the other video of underneath on a ramp

roberto 11th February 2021 06:24 PM

cancelled it

cancelled it for lots of reasons
heres a few

3 owners

failed its mot last year on 1 bald tyre

wot at 14,000 miles ???

quite a lot of rust underside

its back on the audi website if you fancy it

https://usedcars.audi.co.uk/usedcar/...4,-1.26862,800,

tonupkid 11th February 2021 09:40 PM

Oh dear! I am not in the least surprised that at 14k miles a car like this might need a tyre or four.
Rust underneath a 2016 car is something I would not expect.

briang9 11th February 2021 10:16 PM

As Nick says tyres at 14k are not earth shattering, nor is 3 owners in a 6 year old car IMHO. However it's diesel, white, way too long and as Ian says you would probably cover it in the wrong badges anyway. Narrow escape you had there :p (again IMHO) it's about as desirable as a visit to the dentist ;)

roberto 12th February 2021 04:30 AM

i think more than anything it was the rust on metal parts underneath that did me, the rear subframe, suspension legs, exhaust all nuts/bolts etc had more corrosion on them than my 157,000 miles A6

lucky escape yeh, and no deposit back yet

H-M3 12th February 2021 11:19 PM

I had a Range Rover 2002 I bought of a guy who owned a boat. Had similar rust at the rear subframe etc. This was where he would go and tow the boat out from the sea water. Good you steered away from it.+++

That's a real shame. I remember you talking about that Q7 when I was looking for one 18 months ago.

Mine doesn't have nearly the spec yours did, but it's still running and has been pretty dependable. Of course, lockdown means I haven't used it as intended and my needs have now changed...
