2001 D2 S8 Ebony Black Cream Interior, 87k

Hello,

Ive decided to part with my D2 S8, its a peach of a car but Im not using it that much. Bought to scratch the Ronin itch Ive had since late 90s. However, I tend to take my BMW E28 to car shows more. Low Mileage 87k, was owned by elderly couple and stored in a garage used sparingly for last 4 years. Excellent MOT History. Folder of receipts etc. Ebony Black, with excellent condition cream leather interior. 20” Final edition wheels have just been reconditioned with new centre caps, very recent Michelin PS5’s all round (1000miles on them). 2Keys. Has pop up rear blind, solar sunroof. Brand new luxury beige mats)
Registration: S8 BFY
MOT until 9th February 2026, one advisory the numberplate light
AmD Technik my local Audi specialist has done a lot of work on the car
- Audi OEM timing belt, pulleys, water pump - over £2k
- New front struts
- New Tierods
- Replaced both CATs

Located in Woking, Surrey

Firm £11k price, spent alot of money on the car which is invoiced. ready for the next custodian.

Viewings can be arranged from 3rd March, as Im away on holiday / business. Just putting the feelers out on forum before it goes on Autotrader.

That's a shame, hopefully you'll find a good home for it - is this the one you bought for £5400 in August last year?

Spanker 22nd February 2025 07:02 AM

Is it that easy to double your money on these in 6 months?

gninnam 22nd February 2025 07:40 PM

As you know, something is only worth what someone is willing to pay +++

Yep, I won't get back the finances and MJ won't get her life back on mine.

And it's been a pretty tough market to sell cars like this for a while - and arguably getting harder.

Just google "classic car market price changes uk" for a fairly downbeat assessment from most respected commentators (Hagerty et al..).

It'll be interesting to see what this one goes for....

Yet some folks don't think it's tough:rolleyes:

 Funniest thing I've seen today.

More owners and more miles than mine - and not an FE either? Plus, I'm pretty sure those wheels have been refurbed: for that price I'd want a mint unused set of OEM 20" rims +++

So that makes mine worth at least £25k then ;). Maybe Marty's got a chance of selling his at less than half that price after all then ;)....

It's nice but not £24k nice:ROFL: Marty's expectations are a little ambitious too IMHO, having experience of recently selling mine, which the buyer considered to be one of the best he'd seen. Anyhow GLWS Marty +++

HPsauce 25th February 2025 08:57 PM

It's not an FE and the 20s are not diamond cut, but TBH so what? That's just a minor cosmetic issue. Important to some of us, but not everyone.
Provenance and how it's been looked after are more important to a buyer at that level. it can be put back on (refurbished?) OEM 18s if necessary, I suspect the biggest problem will be finding good centre caps!
e.g. go back to a PF and look for centre caps for the original (much better IMHO) Avus 18s!

Edit: Sorry Marty, we're diverging from your advert. Hope this helps bump the price up!

sarg 28th February 2025 10:36 PM

Did you sort out the faulty steering rack?

monkeyboyuk 5th March 2025 03:13 PM

That’s nice but £24k……. Maybe I need to think of selling……

Marty 8th March 2025 02:01 PM

Guys, interesting responses. Im not simply trying to double my money.

I bought it for £5400 after haggling him down significantly as the car had some significant issues. Car needed new rubber all round - £700, wheels needed refurbishment - £500. Both Cats were rattling - £700, timing belt hadnt been done, £2100 I was shocked at this one all Audi OEM which is great but expensive, steering rack was loose and needed all new tie-rods - £800, body work needed tidying up with a bonnet respray and other items £1000, front struts needed replacement £600.

The car has only done 87k and is now as it should be stunning and sorted.

For serious offer prices over £10k I expect there might be one or more longstanding members on here - with ebony black or other colours ;) - who would consider getting out of their D2

I'm sure that belonged to one of the forum members here, as the S8 UHT number plate is familiar looking.

Just had a quick check through my photos, and they were at the 2018 Annual meet. I also found a post on another forum by a former owner who had just purchased it, in 2015, and it had a gearbox rebuild done at around at 82k miles, but oddly not mentioned in the AutoTrader ad. Maybe they don't realise the significance.

Hmm...lots of speculative pricing atm: maybe it's the Spring weather.

HPsauce 14th March 2025 05:54 PM

Just had a look at the advert in more detail and it mentions new tyres fitted very recently. You can see the brand in the photos.... never heard of them.
Call me an old fuddy-duddy but tyres (and brakes) I NEVER compromise on. :tuttut: Those would come straight off if I bought it (which obviously I won't) and have some "proper" ones fitted.

Marty has Michelins on, GLWS. +++

sarg 15th March 2025 06:55 PM

You've never heard of TOMKET SPORTS Andrew?

Good spot, tells me all I'd need to know about the current owner's approach, I agree with you

ADAC Summer tyre test 2023 205/55 R16
sufficient
Ranked #37 of 50
Finishing 37th out of 50 competitors, the Tomket Sport tire received a final rating of 'Sufficient.'

This looks to be a very nicely sorted S8.
£10K+ ..... all day long..
Good luck with the sale
