My alarm doesn't work

The lights just flash, Vag Com says:

00956 - Key 2
09-00 - Adaptation Limit Surpassed
01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)
76-00 - Terminal 30 missing
01134 - Alarm Horn (H12)
49-00 - No Communications

So where is this alarm horn? +++

ADU UR quattro 6th May 2010 01:49 PM

In the boot, behind the trim on the passenger side roughly below the antenna.

^^^^ Yup, exactly what he said....

Singh 6th May 2010 02:04 PM

Thanks I will have a look +++

darrenjoe90 6th May 2010 02:14 PM

mine has never worked from the day i bought it. does the same lights flash but no sound ! if you get yours working then let me know how ?

Singh 6th May 2010 02:22 PM

Will do, mine hasn't either. Will the alarm horn from a 96 A8 or a 98 A8 work in my 2001 S8 to test before I ordered a new one? I don't have the A8's here but I will go look at the S8 now.

CliveH 6th May 2010 02:40 PM

These alarms have an internal battery which eventually runs down, but they're sealed units.

I replaced the S4 one with an A8 unit and it works a treat - you can get them from A8parts of course +++

Singh 6th May 2010 02:51 PM

Thanks Clive, strange everything coming at once for the S8. Just had to renew the insurance (feels like I did it only a few months ago) and its ££££'s new tyres £1k+, park sensor, road tax £210, gearbox and new track rod end, four wheel alignment what the heck is next?

Singh 6th May 2010 02:57 PM

I couldn't find it! Could someone get a picture please?

IT 6th May 2010 03:04 PM

Maybe its missing - That would explain the silence.... :p

One facelift alarm horn:

You forgot Xenon Plus's  +++

Thanks Ian, I will nick it out of my sisters MK4 Golf when she gets home from work this evening, hopefully its the same. Can someone get a pic of it installed. I couldn't see it. Was looking above the CD changer, my car doesn't have one of them gay aerials :D

IT 6th May 2010 03:18 PM

You have to remove the side trims behind the Cd changer ??

Singh 6th May 2010 03:25 PM

Of course, *goes out to check* :o

Singh 6th May 2010 03:38 PM

This is all I could find and it looks nothing like what Ian posted.

That would be the central locking pump... Look up higher into the very top of the wing.....

Singh 6th May 2010 03:56 PM

Found it now, spot on Ian.

Zip 6th May 2010 04:28 PM

^^^ Wot Clive said. Its a vagcom setting. There was some EU directive around 1999 that said chirping of alarms when arming / disarming wasnt a good idea I believe so whilst Pre face cars up to 1998 chirped by default, late pre face and all facelift cars dont.....

Simple enough vagcom setting, you can also set whether the indicators flash etc etc if you're really bored +++

Conan_the_Librarian 6th May 2010 07:49 PM

This how to is the one I used.

B@fink 6th May 2010 09:07 PM
