Carbon Trim
So, the wood finally got the better of me. I invested in some 3M Carbon Fibre film. This stuff is amazing. It's self adhesive and you apply it an mould it using a heat gun and I am really pleased with the result. The car feels 10 years younger!!
So, what it looked like: http://joyfields.com/users/jeremy/a8/old_interior.jpg And this is what it looks like now: http://joyfields.com/users/jeremy/a8/interior1.jpg http://joyfields.com/users/jeremy/a8/interior1b.jpg http://joyfields.com/users/jeremy/a8/interior2.jpg http://joyfields.com/users/jeremy/a8/interior3.jpg |
Again, very tastefully done..... Looks really good with the black sports interior... +++
|
Thank you. (it's actually blue!)

I quickly took the photos this morning using my iphone! The blue is subtle (but I know you know what the blue is like in the 'flesh'!)
|
Top job. I like that. Link to the product please Jeremy? :cool:

That's a great job there...
Wonder if it'll be a bit much in a light grey D3. |
|
Watch out for a lot of Carbon Fibre look interiors soon:D
|
Who says it's for the interior??????? Hey? Hey? ;)

Hmm... Carbon fibre wrap on the house? Carbon fibre window frames.. Carbon fibre flooring..
|
Very good result! I will try the same on my S8. What is the colour you choose? Is it black carbon or graphite carbon?

hi, as a newbie here just catching up with some older stuff, that looks like a really great job you did there, did you remove the panels to apply the film
cheers |
Yup, every panel removed. I don't think you could do it properly without removing them. It takes a lot of effort with a heat gun and a sharp knife!
Thanks for your kind words. |
You obviously have DIY skills and patience way beyond me, luckily I have the really dark, almost black wood on mine or I could have been tempted, looks really good
cheers |
Thanks to your work I invested in a roll of the vinyl and used it to finish of my turntable build (totally off topic...)

Couldn't resist it
Following on from Jeremy's wrapping and his head unit swap I felt I needed to do something about the Projekts PF interior. So I bought some of the vinyl stuff and as luck would have it, Jeremy changed cars, removed his I.C.E. gear and sold it to me.
So I thought I would combine both his ideas for a PF interior. It's not finished yet, but here is a couple of days work. First off I took a PF double din unit, removed the NavPlus, stripped it all down and laid up the back of the Audi double din unit with fibre glass. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c7...BZ/jekt001.jpg I used fibre glass to match the thickness of the aluminium fascia and finished off with some P38. Check for fit. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c7...BZ/jekt002.jpg Then commence wrapping. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c7...BZ/jekt004.jpg Reassembled and ready to fit to projekt AnA. http://i25.photobucket.com/albums/c7...BZ/jekt005.jpg :) |
That looks fab. Nice work +++
|
Looks good Mike!
|
Quality job there Mike! +++
|
Does look good +++
Is the rest of the interior trim going to get the same treatment now? |
Quote:
Think so. Once I've had a chance to fit it I'll decide if I like the black carbon. I have seen some dark red anodised brushed aluminium vinyl I quite like the look of.......:rolleyes: |

that does look very good+++
|
have a look at the RED carbon fibre look wrap thats on the D3 on this thread!
|
I'm thinking a much deeper red in a satin finish. That's a bit bright! :cool:
|
I had my interior done in real carbon as opposed to this sticker, will post pics when I get the interior completely back together (some parts are off for alcantara)

If anyone here has worked with fibreglass then you can work with carbon as well. Also, excuse the cell phone pic, looks like crap, but it's at least an example. http://i631.photobucket.com/albums/u...ps472a8f34.jpg |
Very interesting work.
Is this something what company "o-carbon" is doing? Did you do the same with door inserts? Better pic would be great +++ |
