++++++
That black trim does it for me.

PsYcHe 20th March 2011 07:46 PM

Looking damn shiny mate... Even got out an did mine today, if the weather holds, might put another couple of coats of wax on tomorrow.

briang9 20th March 2011 08:33 PM

I gave it the Megs 3 stage treatment (paint cleaner, polish and wax) and even doing it by hand has made a big difference to paint swirls etc, used Sonus applicator pads which have a slightly more textured side for applying and then you turn over to a smooth side for buffing up, took me about 5 hours though but it does look good, dont think the pictures do it justice to be honest, but its a new camera I got for Christmas and still learning

Very nice Brian. Let me know next time and I'll give you a hand - I'd like to see how it's done. All I do is wash and occasionally polish mine

Jim, why dont you bring it over some weekend and give the products a whirl, I will happily make tea+++

The_Laird 21st March 2011 04:00 PM

Will do. Is there a good weekend for you?

briang9 21st March 2011 06:16 PM

could maybe do this Sat, really depends on the weather, can confirm nearer the weekend?

Ska 21st March 2011 08:02 PM

looks nice, takes a lot of hard graft on these cars.+++
have you thought about spacers at all?

briang9 21st March 2011 08:40 PM

not something I have thought about so far Ska, only had the car a few months, are there any handling advantages, or do they just make it look meaner?

cheers

Or.... You could come and help with mine. I'll provide all the materials and lots of helpful advice. IE You've missed that bit. Keep going and No sugar in mine thanks.

My cars black with an iridescent metal flake that will really look great with a good Polish

jayzee 22nd March 2011 08:00 AM

First day of Spring... :D

PsYcHe 22nd March 2011 08:24 AM

No real handling benefits from the spacers brian, but they do make it look good, really fills out the arches.

To add... Helps with the narrow speed humps too +++

Visually yes, it does make the car look good. Dare I say it, makes it look more compact too?

The_Laird 22nd March 2011 11:44 AM

So what would you guys recommend as spacers for an S8? And do they fit with 18" (winter) and 20" wheels?

PsYcHe 22nd March 2011 12:16 PM

the spacers will fit with any wheels, but you need to make sure you don't foul the arches, so maybe 15mm if you're on 20's. You may get away with 20mm.

jayzee 22nd March 2011 02:21 PM

You can go 25mm on rears, but it is close. Some have done this on here. 20mm is the norm on rears, although I have gone for a moderate 15mm.

10-15mm on the front.

http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthrea...8367#post18367 for 25mm

Architex_mA8tey 22nd March 2011 05:12 PM

Personally I would get the spacers to look right for the 20's and there will still be an improvement in looks for the 18's. Unless the offset of the wheel is the same (which isn't usually the case) then the same spacers will not give the same effect on both sets of wheels

jayzee 22nd March 2011 07:28 PM

What looks right is a matter for debate :D

On my FE 20s, i have 10mm front, and 15mm on the rear... To me this looks OEM.

Some will disagree though, and opt for 20mm rear and 15mm front.

Ok sounds good, i'll meet you at 7 to take the car away make sure it has a full tank, and you might want to order some new tyres.
I'll bring the loner so you're mobile for the wk-end. But I've already lent the Land8 out, so will the Lamborghini be ok?

Parking it can be a nightmare sometimes as it doesn't have parking sensors and it is a little awkward to get in and out of.

And she would pull your S backwards with all 4 wheels spinning like it wasn't even there.
