Finite Thirst vs Man Math
Well, I've concluded that there is a point at which (aside from leaking it) it doesnt really matter how much bigger your engine gets, it not really going to go much less than 20mpg average.
My A8 was just above this, my S4 is slightly above this, and I note that 6.0 W12's, 5.2 S8's and the 5.0 Twin Turbo RS6 all still struggle to chew up any more fuel than I am right now. So, by my man math, I could buy any of these cars, and they wouldnt cost me any more to run.... Hmmm...... :D |

Hmmmmmm mine does 13.5 to the gallon :p

My S8 serves me an incredible 16mpg on my daily drive+++

I agree with Ian. My change from V8 4.2 to W12 6.0 has not changed my average fuel consumption( unless i drive round the ring and get 5.9mpg) but i am sure anybody can get the same from 4.2 +++

lowest on my S8 have been around 8mpg
|
ive got 36 on a run
:) sod these low figures. i once did 20quids worth of fuel in 15minutes in my mates drift car :D keeping up with something low and orange, for about 6 junctions. ;) |
I see the future! -- Ian's new 6.0 W12

Not if I buy it first :)

Not too keen a W12.... S8 would be more likely if I were looking into D3's.
C6 S6 is interesting to me at the moment... +++ |
Cars have got a lot more efficient over time.
I remember getting 30mpg out of my 1600 Cortina 40 years ago and thinking that was good. Diesel cars were few and far between then and were also generally dirty, smelly and noisy but the mpg was good but accelleration was absymal. Now you can get cars with decent performance that get 60mpg and even better but I prefer a bit of luxury and really don't care too much about the mpg as I don't do huge miles anyway :) |
