So took it out and cleaned with brake cleaner then dried also removed half a pint of fluid to get to max on dipstick !!!!! Hey presto I can hear my engine on tickover makes you wonder if the so called kids in the know are tuned in !!!???? In my case they are most certainly not !!!!!!!!!? |
any picture's of what you did ? as it may be worth us all checking to see if ours are blocked ?
where abouts is the filter ? |
Hi mate the filter is in the neck of the reservoir pull it out slowly it was completely blocked real easy to do cleaned with brake cleaner then hot soapy water then dried with a hair drier.I can hear the v8 purr now ;-)

Is the filter common to all models, or just those with servotronic?

Didn't bloody work in my case :(
Seems the noise is coming from a pully on the left hand side of the engine as you look at it from the front. Thanks for the tip though, my filter was clogged +++ |
D3 owners suffer the same problem. at 55k service the power steering level should be checked according to Audi and topped up. It is normal for it to use a bit over the years. Mine was sitting right on minimum and did whine slightly.
You need to completely remove the entire right hand airbox (looking at the car from the front of the engine) and the bottle is under the headlight. Top up, rotate left and right fully a few times to bleed it, cap it. Jobs a fish. |
