Questions regarding extended leather

Hello all, I am purchasing a 2001 S8 here in the US, and extended leather is extremely rare here. My car has the black interior. Does anyone know of a source (other than Audi) for these parts? If not, in the opinions of this forum, would it be possible or worthwhile to have an upholstery shop manufacture a comparable set of coverings? Post pics and opinions of your extended leather package car please. Let me know if it's worth the hassle and headache. And as I said, if you know of a source for the parts, PLEASE LET ME KNOW. Thanks everyone

a good starting point would be http://www.a8parts.co.uk who are the sponsors of this forum - they break a huge number of A8s and S8s and have an ebay store which you can search for parts in the right colours to match what you have +++

You might find THIS thread useful for showing you some pics and THIS one for the rear door card

IMHO extended leather absolutely transforms the feel of the interior. Particularly LOVE the alcantara headliner and parcel shelf - much more luxurious. Well worth it if you can source used. Only seen the leather full dash a couple of times....ver nice.

Does that mean it extends above the "stitching line" at the top of the glovebox and up to the windscreen?
That dash area is the only significant exposed plastic inside my car and I've always wondered why it wasn't covered with leather/alcantara like the rest.

Yes - hideously expensive option, if I recall. Ian will pipe up soon no doubt...

Not even an option in the (contemporary) price list I have; maybe came in after mine was built?

I've only seen one for sale in the UK with a leather dash in the last 5 years. Pretty sure it had full rear entertainment as well (on an S8) - the proper 2 screens in headrests job.

No photos from me, I'm afraid:(

Been googling...

See halfway down this post - a guy has scanned in the Audi Exclusive brochure. Has a picture of the leather dash (plus other tasty options...) He reckons the dash was an $11k option:ROFL:

Very nice find for sure +++ WHat brand is the headrest screen used by Audi? They appear to be Alpine, but I'm not 100% on that determination.

Just over a year ago, there was a 2002 S8 for sale in aqua blue with caramel and blue leather with rear centre console and entertainment in the headrests. As a result, a 4-seater only.

I recall the front seats were not Recaro though. Looked a very tasty car and difinitely had an "individual one-off spec"

"OV" reg too, so Milton Keynes registered, and I'm guessing a special Head office motor +++

THAT's the one I remember. Slightly odd colour scheme.

PS: sorry to correct you, but the "Comfort" seats are made by Recaro as well...

The monitors supplied as OEM equipment by Audi are made by Alpine. It's one hell of a set-up, if you opt for the lot...

I've only ever seen this on one car - a 2001 S8, whilst I was out in Zurich for 3 months. It belonged to the owner of the hotel I was staying at, and as I wasn't really into D2's at the time I didn't pay much attention.
