Positively drooling....

Tuesday is confirmed for collection of new car.

I dont think I have ever looked forward to any car as much as I am this one.... Honestly. If I find any more kit it has, I'm going to have to write my signiture in a smaller font... :p

I've not even seen it yet, and I grin at the thought of it being mine.:love::love:

Dealer has removed it from Autotrader now as hes had enough of people trying to buy it and turning up randomly even though it said deposit taken... Apparently, one guy last night tried to gazump me... Whats the world coming to....

All Mine All Mine All Mine All Mine All Mine..... :D:D:D

Architex_mA8tey 28th January 2012 05:46 PM

Congratulations Ian :D bet you cant wait til Tuesday!
the 3.0 Tdi is a cracking engine with lots of torque and im regularly getting 38-40mpg driving mine (even down my private driveway to work at speed lol) and 44mpg in traffic doing 40mph on the way home +++

Nollywood 28th January 2012 05:48 PM

Sounds an awesome ride - look forward to seeing pictures, and welcoming her aboard. +++

Singh 28th January 2012 11:30 PM

I know how your feeling Ian, hope it is everything your hoping it to be. +++

Oli18 29th January 2012 08:28 AM

Hi Ian,

I must admit, that spec does tick an aweful lot of boxes....low miles, economical, good amount of gadgets and the B&O to top it all off with!

I can see why you snapped that up so quick! +++

Oli

IT 29th January 2012 08:33 AM

Yeh, I really wanted ACC and the sunroof. B&O was a strong desire. I wast past caring what engine I had to buy to get all that, but the more economical the better being self employed and all ;)

Thought I'd end up with an S8, but got a nice frugal 3.0 Tdi instead, lower cost, probably lower miles and cheaper to run. Well happy... +++

Adrian E 29th January 2012 10:49 AM

Do MRC do diesel remaps for these? Would imagine with a 'live' remap this will happily eat D2 S8s for breakfast and give all bar a full fat D3 S8/W12 a run for its money!

When I went up against the A6 3.0 diesel at GTI Intl with its remap removed it was only just behind me over the standing quarter. With the map I'm sure positions would have been reversed.

Singh 29th January 2012 12:13 PM

I'm sure that A6 you went up against was mapped by Shark Adrian, yeah MRC do the 3.0 diesels, they do the best remaps in the business for Audi IMO. But knowing Ian, he probably won't go for the remap.

Doh, I hate being predictable.... I'll have to remap it now just to make you wrong.... :p

Adrian E 29th January 2012 02:10 PM

I would remap just to know I was getting the best performance out of a diesel as the maps are SO conservative on diesels, plus it generally improves fuel economy to boot.

It would make up in smugness for the lack of cylinders when you come up against a better endowed D3 at some point knowing you can get home again without filling the tank again

Standard maps on diesels can be pretty peaky so its nice to smooth out the power delivery a bit for driveability.

A8 Doc 29th January 2012 06:19 PM

Pop by Ian, I know the 3.0 TDi engine well. Will sort you out nicely :)

Can come and look at the V10 then!

I'd certainly be interested to know what can be acheived.....

2 more sleeps.....

Singh 29th January 2012 10:18 PM

Keep forgetting A8_Doc does remaps! There you go Ian, and he isn't far, do it! I bet if you gave him a trial remap Doc he would want it. ;)

Had much intrest in the S4? I think you made a great choice with the 3.0 TDI D3. Looking forward to your report.

A8 Doc 30th January 2012 08:19 AM

All depends what you want Ian, a very easy 270bhp is achievable and a bit more boost and fuel pressure can hit 280bhp. DPF's are the big one. Would massively recommend getting rid of this after a while and I can program it out. Beauty of that is more power and fuel economy due to the massive restriction.

All my maps are 7 day guarantee anyway, if you're not happy come back and I will put you back to standard.

I do all my own maps so can give you exactly what you want. I've owned 3 x 3.0 TDi's and know they very well :)

Give me a call sometime 07728 835500 (Think you have it anyway!)

A8 Doc 30th January 2012 09:47 AM

P.S. I so so so want adaptive cruise :(

Yeah, it rocks.... +++

You missed off Alcantara and enhanced leather on your sig. I wouldnt have noticed, but I found it hard to believe your car had nothing more than mine, engine aside.... :D

You not got reversing camera or TV? 4 Zone climate.... ?

A8 Doc 30th January 2012 09:54 AM

Ah I did! I did nick yours and tweak it....

Doesn't have alcantara (Boooo) but does have extended leather. I keep forgetting all it has you see and needed a prompt.

Not reversing camera (All the others that did had 90k+ on and mine was cheaper!) and neither 4 zone. Which was a shame. But it only has 60k on the clock and that was more important to me :)

..... but alcantara pack was standard on the D3 S8....

A8 Doc 30th January 2012 10:14 AM

Ah you meant the roof etc. Yes indeed, I thought you meant the seats.

Very tempted to trade it in against a BMW M6 V10 at the moment though....

IT 30th January 2012 06:44 PM

Traitor.......

There may be professional help available to people who think that much power through only 2 wheels is a good idea in a British Winter.....

Far more importantly, the pickup of my car has been delayed 24 hours....

<sigh>...

Better be worth the extended wait....

Singh 30th January 2012 08:34 PM

How gutting Ian, but I'm sure it will be worth the wait. The D3 S8 I went to see at Listers Audi didn't have an alacantara roof and it was 'fully loaded' apparently.
I'd stick with the S8 Doc, through winter at least.

PsYcHe 30th January 2012 09:31 PM

Though I'm sure there would be plenty of people on here that'd take it off your hands for the trade-in money :)

Looks like I'll not be taking the W12... It's just not getting me excited believe it or not, I think if it had been a different colour, but it's exactly the same silver, and the 4.2 was plenty fast getting back along the A69.

Current thinking is hold out on an S8 with a similar spec to Doc's at the right price (ahem).. Or the right spec 4.2 TDi.

Though I'm still around on Wednesday Ian if you can spare 20 mins to pass by mine with your 3.0 :)

A8 Doc 31st January 2012 12:56 PM

I'm awaiting a trade in price to see how realistic the prospect is.....!

I still love it, just enjoying swapping some fantastic cars at the moment.

Now a days my car isn't a daily anymore, just the weekend nice motor :)

Singh 31st January 2012 01:09 PM

Let me know how much they offer Doc, I could be intrested. I'm getting a B5 RS 4 next, but the one I want won't be available for a good few months so may try a D3 S8 before I go RS 4. This regular car swapping stuff is fun. :D

PsYcHe 31st January 2012 01:12 PM

Oi Amar... Pretty sure I asked first :)

Singh 31st January 2012 01:24 PM

I asked him months back, actually. :p

But, yeah I'm in no real hurry, if Richard doesn't go for it let me know. I know Richard wants it more then me. +++

A8 Doc 31st January 2012 06:37 PM

Will let you know tommorrow chaps :)

sarg 1st February 2012 12:09 AM

I asked months +1 ago ;)

Then again, I've got very little cash available immediately :(

Nah... Richard wants ACC more than he wants that car....... +++

Im betting he'd pass on that basis.....

PsYcHe 1st February 2012 09:31 PM

Bugger... Didn't realise it never had ACC, for some reason I thought it did! Though, if it's the right price :)

Currently eyeing up this fella as an option too.. Needs different alloys really, but ACC, 4.2 Tdi, low miles and interior spec is good.

That's very close to what I'd promised myself if I ever replaced the good old PF S8.
But something very interesting has popped up closer to home, which I hope to have a look at on Sunday....

PsYcHe 1st February 2012 09:47 PM

Possibly something grey and facelifty by any chance?

HPsauce 1st February 2012 09:54 PM

Obviously.
Don't think they have ACC though, which would be very nice....

Architex_mA8tey 1st February 2012 10:01 PM

What part of "Dont get another Silver 8" didnt you understand in your detailed discussions with Mission Control Richard? lol

HPsauce 1st February 2012 10:09 PM

Who's Richard?
(I'm an Andrew ;) )

Forums can be so confusing, you're never quite sure who's responding to what... :tuttut:
(says owner of silverish-grey S8 about to look at another silverish-grey S8  )

And B&O and Massage seats.... Nice... Real shame its an SE, not a sport though......

PsYcHe 2nd February 2012 07:34 AM

The 'economy' argument wins over the silver, but I'd need to swap the alloys as I don't like them, so its less attractive...

This car buying nonsense isn't as easy as it looks :)
