Updating MMI

Got an error can't find module BO_D3...anyone got any ideas?

PsYcHe 5th April 2012 06:33 PM

Everything working OK otherwise?

Do you have B&O?

A8_Tony 5th April 2012 06:46 PM

Think it's going through now :)

Just trying to work out how to remove the cubby hole  doh!!

PsYcHe 5th April 2012 07:20 PM

cubby hole has clips at the sides, not the top or bottom :) (i assume you mean the glovebox one).

You sometimes need to run the CDs 2 or 3 times to make sure it got everything.

Ah ha!....I guess the clips are located at the front?

Almost there with the update....telephone is showing as not installed, but I'm just running disk 3 through now...hopefully that'll sort the last bits out :D +++

A8_Tony 5th April 2012 07:54 PM

Going relatively smoothly....although telephone & DVB don't seem to be working at the mo. :(

Can a mod move this thread to the proper section when they get a mo? I posted in the wrong bloody place  ;)

PsYcHe 5th April 2012 08:03 PM

disk 2 needs run a couple of times to do the phone.. takes fookin aaaaaaaaages!!

DVB may have hit CP, but not sure, run all the disks again :)

A8_Tony 5th April 2012 08:05 PM

tried running disk 1 again, but it says there's nothing to update. Disk 2 is running through again now :)

Bloody pain in the bum if the TV has hit CP, but then again, I don't really use it, so it can wait until I can be arsed to go into a dealer :D

Next job? fit the AMI unit :):)

limoncello 5th April 2012 08:07 PM

dont worry the ami will only take 5 minutes

PsYcHe 5th April 2012 08:34 PM

I assume you're doing the AMI as a parallel install rather than a swap? that's a bit more fiddle as you need to drop the globox out to run all the cables usually. Unless you really need to use the CD changer again, just swap it.

Nah, with a bit skill (and some slightly sore knuckles I confess) its quite possible to to the parallel install without dropping the grovebox. Pop the cubby and CD changer out to give access and away you go... +++

PsYcHe 5th April 2012 09:19 PM

OK.. less easy for those of us with ape hands... Though if you have a spare 10 year old it could work :)

A8_Tony 5th April 2012 09:21 PM

All done +++

DVB-T isn't playing, so I'm going to run the disks again over the weekend.

Parallel installed the AMI, and to be honest, wished I'd dropped the glove box...cable-routing is a pain in the arse when they just don't want to go where you want them :(

Telephone isn't reading my phonebook. But I'm going to guess that's because I've got an Android phone, and all of my contacts are actually stored in the cloud, rather than on the phone/sim...anyone got any experience/tips on this? As I actually rather like having control of my contacts via Google. It's an HTC Sensation, which I'm sure I paired up with my old '57 A6

Only niggle? The bloody USB-Mini USB cable is waaaaayy too long :P

Thread moved +++

On my A7 the contacts didnt transfer either like this so in the end I copied the contacts onto an SD card then imported them onto the MMI - if you can try that it might work Tony ?

Not an option for me chap, no SD card reader in the '8 :(

PsYcHe 6th April 2012 09:57 AM

Which version of Android do you have on the phone Tony?

Has the update sorted it? Though I'm also discovering the joys of the crap iPhone 4 connectivity to the later bluetooth kits.

A8_Tony 6th April 2012 09:59 AM

Got the phone connected now, but no phonebook import option :(

Going to try a couple of things:

1. Remove pairing from car & phone.
2. Reset Telephone module.
3. Re-pair phone to car.

Will let you know how I get on, as gotta take girls out now :) +++

A8_Tony 6th April 2012 06:26 PM

Well that didn't bloody work!!

Frustrating as hell, might have to try my Desire HD and see if I get the same issue. If I do it's likely to be OS/Contact storage related. If not it's down to the phone gggrrrrrr :(

What you need is an rSAP adaptor!!
Ahemmm I happen to know someone who has one

A8_Tony 8th April 2012 09:06 PM

Unfortunately Neil, the rSAP adaptor would not be useful for me. Android phones apparently don't have an rSAP protocol built into them.

However, I've fixed the issue now, deleted my call logs, and job's a good 'un :D

PsYcHe 8th April 2012 09:40 PM

I thought Android did rSAP too.. The only saving grace of rSAP is a better quality signal in marginal areas (like the bloody M8!!) as it uses the car's antenna instead of the phones.

Architex_mA8tey 9th April 2012 07:02 AM

rSAP is more a function of the particular phone than Android or not Android - and usually down to which manufacturer makes the phone. Just check out the phone spec on the manufacturer details.

Remote SIM access profile Bluetooth adaptor cradle.
An enhancement of the factory-fitted option "Mobile phone preparation - Low". It enables mobile phone handsets to connect to the phone preparation via Bluetooth Remote SIM Access Profile (rSAP). When handsets are connected, the cradle enables the use of the external GSM car antenna and deactivates the handset antenna in order to minimise GSM radiation in the car and handset battery consumption. The handset is put into standby mode so battery power drain is minimal. Once connected, the cradle connects to the handset automatically and details of up to four handsets can be saved. Only handsets with Bluetooth rSAP functionality are compatible with this adaptor.
