...according to Chapman's Car Compendium! :tuttut:

I think John and Mike, to name just a couple, will have a fit!

You'll need to zoom in a little to read it, but it's worth it just to imagine the cringes across the forum!

Yes, I can see a new swirl mark (if nothing worse!) in every line.

A bucket of water from the river and an old bath sponge will suffice +++

I hear that brillo pads are all the rage now :p
Drys off with a lovely mat finish

47p2 16th May 2012 01:50 PM

Those green scotch brite pads also leave a nice matt finish +++

You guys don't know what you're talking about, i've used the Brillo pad and it has left swirls, now been and got a Scotch pad and gone over the area and it's ruined my paint

Keep rubbing with the scotch brite and the swirls eventually join up and you will be left with a stunning matt finish :ROFL:

The_Laird 16th May 2012 02:54 PM

But John will still be able to restore it to a mirror finish! :)

PsYcHe 16th May 2012 03:35 PM

Keep going then you can have it in 'proper' aluminium :)

The book I bought on eBay has a very nice picture of a "naked" A8 built and polished by Audi and that really is something to behold! +++

You would need more than one tube of Solvol Autosol to polish that

I thought, being a German motor show, they used a bevy of Frauleins "suitably equipped".

A mate's girlfriend actually used a brillo pad on her then almost new Mini - the birdcrap wouldn't come off with the sponge apparently, mate thought somebody had vandalised the car.

And yes, she is blonde :)
