The Barge is Dead RIP

Following an unpleasant incident on the cross channel ferry when the stationary Barge was cruelly struck, the insurance company has written it off. Still, its an ill wind... If you have a D2 PF I saved a couple of choice bits

Tow Bar: Swan neck detachable. I paid A8 parts £300 eight months ago
First aid kit for rear seat arm rest. Unused
Handbook and wallet
D2 publicity launch pack in aluminium wallet

and

front centre arm rests - unbroken post, black leather

What are they worth to you?

Cheers

Sorry to hear that, I assume you're happy with the settlement.
Remember they can't FORCE you to agree to a write-off if it is repairable (irrespective of cost)

Could be interested, to go with my book...
BUT I don't know what's in it so can't estimate a value. ;) Photos?

I've got one of these too, and can recommend it as nice accessory to have, both in terms of style and content. I'm away from home at the mo', so can't send photos...

The other guy's insurance agreed to pay £4000 and wanted £1000 for me to buy it back. As the MOT ran out 03August and it needed new front discs and pads plus doubtless other stuff for a new MOT [£1000 total maybe] it seemed expensive for a 15 year old car with 333,333km on the clock. And I would have to fix the bodywork that caused the write off. I wouldn't have bought one like that from a dealer!

I'm not at home either, but I can take pix of the publicity pack tomorrow.

Cheers

Sounds like you've had your money's worth out of it. +++

No complaints. I spent some serious money [new windcsreen amongst others] but it carried us round Europe for over three years in luxury and sort of economy with acres of space. It was always too big for my wife so we have downsized to a Passat!! We'll see how long we can live with a small car, but at least I won't have to park in the further reaches of the supermarket car park.

So sorry to hear that it's been written off. Another D2 gone, ours are getting rarer etc. With the help of A8 parts we'll all soon have modern classics! :)

I've put some pictures of the publicity pack at

Sadly I paid £34 for it but it went so well with my Barge.

Sorry to hear she's gone fella.

I'd be interested in the First Aid Kit if you've still got it.

Cheers

I thought £10 plus postage for the first aid kit. Fair?

thebluewhale 10th August 2012 10:15 PM

OK,

I'll PM you my details Monday.

Lots to do before Haigh Hall.

Thanks

Well being realistic I paid less than that on eBay this year for the book, and that was autographed on the launch day by several of the racing drivers there. http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=4632

Found the pictures, looks to be of interest but what's a sensible price now?

christhompson 13th August 2012 09:25 AM

I feared that may be the case - the price has dropped so low I might as well keep it as a happy souvenir
Cheers
