S8 V10 wanted

im still hanging my nose over one of these awsome cars
just cant find the right car

roberto 16th September 2012 05:56 AM

im still looking for the right car
but i think im being too picky for whats out there
my cars are always (as new) i look after them properly
well ive looked a few now
ive seen body filler in them, dints, scratches, gouges
and prices are too high in my opinion
some cars are for sale month after month after month
i also think S8 V10's will be around £10,000 next year
the cheapest i saw was £12,000 recently !
well,,im looking every day
there has to be one out there ????????

roberto 7th October 2012 05:43 AM

IVE FOUND ANOTHER !
2008 facelift
B&O
1 owner
60,000 miles
£23,000
viewing next week
im exited !

mannyo 7th October 2012 06:47 AM

Hopefully its a good one.

Dezzy 7th October 2012 08:47 AM

Good luck Roberto hope it's the one you've been looking for +++

roberto 9th October 2012 05:10 AM

well.....
made arrangements to go today tuesday (audi main dealer)
had an email last night said

THE CAR HAS GONE TO THE BODY SHOP TO HAVE 2 WHEELS REFURBED
ITS BACK FRIDAY !

that doesnt sound right to me
2 WHEELS?? BODY SHOP??

HERE WE GO AGAIN.....

mannyo 9th October 2012 06:39 AM

Wheel refurb, nothing unusual for a second hand car and something any prestige dealers would do if the wheels have even a slight kerbing. 2 wheels, well they could be on the same side and a result of kerb side parking. Workshop, well it would be their workshop doing the work so again normal.

If they had said new body panels, then thats a different ball game.

roberto 9th October 2012 07:46 AM

what worries me is what the salesman said..
THE CAR HAS GONE TO THE BODY SHOP AND WILL BE BACK ON SITE FRIDAY
so its not there, and its an AUDI main dealer
ive seen many a mobile van refurbing wheels at audi centres same day turnaround
anyway i will inspect it very close next week now......

Adrian E 9th October 2012 08:04 AM

Ask to go and see it in process at the body shop as you're in the area? If it's having paint they can't hide the fact then!

IT 9th October 2012 08:15 AM

All the main dealers I know and trust send there wheels outside the business for sorting.

Of the main dealers I know with onsite bodyshops, their work doesnt tend to be as good as dedicated specialists in my opinion.

So, imo its a normal and good thing its gone off site for them doing properly.

Give it a good look over on Friday, and let us know how it goes +++

WELL I DID JUST THAT !
drove 60 miles to stoke audi
they flatly refused to let me look at it
so i came home in disgust

the car has been on sale a few days
they sent me pics of it on the pitch
suddenly its not yet be prepared and been fully checked over
so no-one is allowed to view it

ALARM BELLS ??

Dezzy 9th October 2012 05:01 PM

Well that’s not a very good start mate and for a member on what is the biggest A8 forum to quite rightly post up his "not good" experience for all to read :tuttut:

Are you going back for another look see?

briang9 9th October 2012 05:21 PM

alarm bells sounding very loud, I would walk away, tell them why and also that you posted it on here as well, if they had nothing to hide they would let you see it:tuttut:

Singh 9th October 2012 08:33 PM

No alarm bells at all. The dealer has a certain process they need to follow and the car needs to be prepared to a certain standard. It was an unreasonable and out of the ordinary request to see it at the body shop. They were up front about it going there and not all dealers have on site body shops, absolutely nothing fishy at all. You're buying an Audi approved car, the warranty will see you right and you will get a chance to inspect the bodywork before you buy it.

Or perhaps just a case of Internet forum induced paranoia. Stoke Audi's group do their own wheel refurbishments, which is hardly a negative. How would some fellow working out of the back a van in the back yard produce a better quality finish than a bodyshop with ovens etc? And why would a dealer try to arrange a visit to let anyone go wandering around their off-site bodyshop? That's a recipie for chaos.

I suspect the worst you could conclude is that they were a little permature in advertising before it was fully retail prepared.

Amen. +++

PsYcHe 9th October 2012 08:50 PM

Dunno... If it's just wheels, why wouldn't they let you see the car, even from a distance?

Dealer, knocking back a sale? Does seem a bit suspect.

tonupkid 9th October 2012 10:32 PM

Just go and see the bloody car (when it's there).
Or, if you want perfection, fork out the £90k and buy a new one.

47p2 9th October 2012 10:50 PM

Never heard of a car going into a body shop to have wheels done

roberto 10th October 2012 03:40 AM

thanks so far guys
lots of opinions there
ive had another email from them saying

Hi Robert,

I’m sorry if I have upset you in any way. And I can appreciate that you are a loyal customer to the brand. However Stoke Audi want the car prepared to our very high standards before we offer it for sale and as such have taken it off sale until we have confirmation that the car has passed our inspection standards. If and when we get this confirmation I will contact you.

SUPPOSE ILL JUST WAIT FOR THE CALL IF AT ALL

roberto 16th October 2012 01:30 PM

never contacted me
its back on sale
price gone up to £26,950
ive complained to audi uk

Norrs2 16th October 2012 03:31 PM

Quite right too. I don't get these gits, they want to sell a car then don't bother calling back a prosepective customer?

My mate travelled all the way from Scotland to get a used Q7 from Stoke Audi and on the way home, the dashboard lit up light a xmas tree. To cut a long story short, the car was supoosed to have had a full 120...something point check carried out as an approved Audi.

When he got it home, he stuck his own Vagcom on it, and the fault codes list was longer than the M6. It was sent to a local Audi dealer (Stirling) who established the car had a mouse living in the wiring loom. Stoke Audi initially said that wasn't covered under Warranty, despite the fact they sold it like that. Guess who won......

Tread carefully with that lot!!!

Saw it was back up for sale, but obviously before they put the price up!!

Here's a screen shot from a couple of days ago....

roberto 18th October 2012 03:30 PM

nice one
i thought it was £22,995
anyway they can sod off

IT 18th October 2012 09:31 PM

Isnt there some trading standards rule about them having to sell it at the advertised price that you originally enquired at.... Or am I making that up?

Its particularly useful that you have a screenshot available showing it at a cheaper price at least, and with the reg no etc.

If you could screw it out of them at the original price, it would be a very satisfying lol.

Singh 18th October 2012 10:32 PM

Dunno about that, I've known customers to book package holidays on our website, only for us to see the price was wrong (discount doubled), so they've been contacted 3/4 days later and had to pay the remaining £700 or so or the holiday would be cancelled, and legal go through everything with a fine tooth comb.

IT 18th October 2012 10:43 PM

Yeah, I did a little research.

It seems if its a genuine pricing mistake, and its immediately corrected once found then the law stands with the retailer.

Anything else gets a bit gray though...

I'd be spitting :angry2: if that happened to me. If the price was wrong and corrected but 3/4 days i would think was a con, entrapment, carrot dangler.

Grey area then. I suppose i could have only been noticed after 1000 people booked it / bought it.

Singh 19th October 2012 11:04 AM

As would I Dezzy. I do not agree with it at all. Most times customers get it because we have to correct the error within a week. Two people went to Jamaica, All Inclusive for like £200 a few months back.

ainarssems 19th October 2012 04:25 PM

I am not supporting the dealers here but it is possible that the price listed first was for the car as it was, then they decided they can make more money if they freshen up the car, so they spent couple of hundred for wheel refurbishment and possibly something more and then re-listed with couple grand on top of original price, perfectly normal practice, if you don't like it don't buy it. I mean their actions are a bit suspicious and I would most likely walk away as well but that does not mean they cannot sell it at increased price to somebody else.

Audi Approved is just a marketing term, I know of somebody who bought Audi approved 3 year old A5 with front tyres worn on inside to unsafe level because of suspension wear.

IIRC the legal status of a price ticket is "an invitation to trade" and, although many retailers will honour it for the sake of goodwill, there is no legal obligation to do so.

And I've been careful not to write this in a broad Glasgow dialect as even I wouldn't understand that!
