S8 V10 2008 on the HPI register accident repair CAT-D....VALUE??

ive seen a cat=d repaired S8 V10
2008 08 face-lift
70,000 miles
nice car
ive seen these go for £21,000 (straight cars)

WHATS THIS ONE WORTH ??? CAT-D

honest opinions please

Adrian E 14th August 2012 07:39 AM

Don't they reckon it knocks about 20-25% off non-recorded value? Could always ask your local dealer how much less they would pay as a part-ex?

roberto 14th August 2012 07:48 AM

Dont think any garage would take a cat-d in p/x to be honest
i was thinking a third off
ive had accident repaired cars before over the years
i reckon £13,500

Adrian E 14th August 2012 12:08 PM

I'm sure they'd take it if they could get it under-written by another dealer, but am sure the offer they made would reflect they really wouldn't want to....

I paid around 20% below for the Boxster, which is recorded Cat D.

I bought it based on condition, but having had the car for a year now, and having had to fettle and resolve a few issues, I'd say that was too much and wouldn't now want to pay any more than 30-33% below usual prices for Cat D, and personally wouldn't touch Cat C or beyond (Sorry Ainars)

i totally agree sarg..
33% defo less
and issues too,, i had those in the past with other repaired cars..:)

sarg 15th August 2012 10:21 AM

there are plenty of bits that have been omitted or repaired poorly. To be honest, I wouldn't buy another one, not ever.

Might keep the one I've got as a weekender, not sure yet, as seems to sell I'd have to almost give it away.

roberto 15th August 2012 08:30 PM

well i viewed the S8 in question today
its very nice
taking an expert tommorow to have another look

roberto 17th August 2012 04:15 AM

after taking a very close look and having had it inspected by an expert
im not going to bother
far too many issues with this car

this car is still for sale http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/3209634148...#ht_481wt_1417
it must have been for sale now for over a year !! £16,000
ive made him an offer a bit less of course--see what happens next

:)

sarg 15th November 2012 10:08 AM

Roberto, my Boxster is Cat D - AT ad had around 700 hits, and not one call or email even though it's easily the cheapest Boxster of it kind in the country.

Have noticed some paint bubbling on the 'repaired' bonnet, looks like I will need bonnet and bumper repainting.

I will never buy a damage repaired car again, and would not recommend it.

Adrian E 15th November 2012 12:36 PM

I like the fact the advert doesn't even hint at past cat d repair  :tuttut:

See the listing has ended now, so guess it's either sold or listing expired?

roberto 15th November 2012 12:55 PM

wow sarg, well i offered him £13,000
he has refused
so let him keep it till its worth £5000

its still for sale
