Wheel Refurbishment
 

Gents,

The A8 is looking lovely but the 20s are a little kerbed in places and corroded on some of the spokes.

Any good places in Wiltshire or Gloucestershire that comes recommended? Also roughly what are we looking at per wheel these days?

I'm too far away for a recommendation, but a ball park price is around £400 for 5 wheels including VAT.

Depends if you want the factory diamond cut finish or powdercoated/painted?

If the former you're pretty much limited to Lepsons - think they have a place round Swindon way? Quick google will find them

I am just about to pick up my D3 S8 20" wheels from Warfield Wheels (warfieldwheels.co.uk, 077 3882 7980) in Bracknell. Cost for 4 wheels powder coted and painted OE silver is £240.

I live near there and commute to Cipenham, so happy to act as courier if required.

The benefit of these guys is that they'll diamond cut the wheels, which was the way the OEM FE wheels were finished. Very few (if any...) other places can diamond cut 20" wheels, tho' other forum members will be along to update if there are other known suppliers that do this.

Thanks chaps, day off tomorrow so may drop the old girl to a couple of places for quotes.

Trouble is where does it stop with the D2 owners "to do" list ;)

I'm on my third '8 and the list 'to do' list has never come to an end.

But isn't that what a hobby is all about? :D

Yep, and the final tidying up of my n/s rear lens with camera and, hopefully, the reconnection of the central locking to the boot.

I now have my wheels back from Warfield Wheels and they look great. 4 standard 20" alloys for £260, tyres removed, stripped, dipped, powder coated, painted, tyres remounted, balanced and fitted.

Thank you for that Richard, went to platinum in Swindon and they wanted £115 per wheel which was a little more than I was expecting.

I just need to find the time to get to bracknell and perhaps pick up a spare set on wheels to use as spares etc.

Hi Sir WIll,

I have a set of winter wheels for my D3 with 235*50*18 tyres on. If you are looking at a couple of weeks, your welcome to borrow them. S8 style (D3) 10 spoke I think. You would need to check centre bores are OK for a D2. Look at my pictures in an old post.

Slightly brighter and more "sparkly" silver than the OEM paint, but not noticeable unless next to each other.
