Architex_mA8tey 27th February 2013 11:18 PM

Stickied into upgrades thanks +++

Goran 28th February 2013 10:09 AM

Thanks!

notorious 28th February 2013 12:01 PM

Thanks Goran -- already ordered ! :)

I can confirm the same pipe is needed for both 4.2 and 3.7 engines AQG, AQF, ARU, AQH, AVP, AUW, AKC, BCS, AYS.

There is typo in eBay ad. Correct original plastic pipe part number is 077-117-411-A.

Thanks.

I'm just reading that guide, as I am sure the little pipe thing is leaking on my car.

sheeeeeettt!!!

has anyone on here carried out the job? it looks pretty involving! changing a cambelt or clutch on my GT4 is easy, because I have done it many times and removed anything that isn't essential. But on the S8?....

<parp>

SilverS8 25th March 2016 12:44 PM

I did this on my FL S8.

Patience, patience and more patience...

Please make sure you have the tools mentioned in the DIY.
Took me about 8-9 hours...

andycaca 26th March 2016 09:13 AM

i'm going to start prepping, and when the celica engine is back together and the car running, it's time to pull the S8 to bits :)

awolfinsheepsclothes 13th April 2016 04:19 PM

Hello does anybody have a drawing of the tube or its measurements so I can make my own and maybe make a few more. It's easer than stripping the car to measure it. And I can check I've got the correct size O rings
Cheers Dave

MikkiJayne 14th April 2016 09:09 PM

I've got a loose one I can measure tomorrow :) I was going to make one but found a brass one on ebay from Poland so didn't bother.

johnny_quattro 14th April 2016 10:02 PM

Here's a pic of mine that I bought on Ebay

I don't know if this helps in any way, but I posted a photo of the part in a forum thread here:

Attaching photo to this post.

Dave, hope this helps ...

Too many measurements to list so I've done you a drawing.

Attachment 13174

Should be pretty accurate but it's a difficult thing to measure with just a steel rule and a couple of small micrometers. Perhaps someone else could check/confirm the measurements.

I took the measurements from an aluminium one, same as the one in johnny_quattro's photo.

awolfinsheepsclothes 17th April 2016 02:29 PM

thank's mark. that's a great help it gets me in the ballpark.
cheers Dave

Just a quick follow-up post to a year-old thread - my A8L now has the aluminium part installed, which was done at the same time as the camshaft/timing belt. It's been a pleasant relief in so far as I don't have to keep checking the antifreeze level every couple of weeks. Over the 7 year period of my ownership of this particular A8L, I'd probably filled the expansion tank up with at least 2 containers worth of antifreeze (4 litres or 8 litres in total) due to the original plastic part developing a crack.

I'd left it this long as it was manageable and I also wanted to get the new aluminium part installed at the same time as all the other timing belt work being done.

Conan_the_Librarian 13th May 2017 08:17 PM

I'm about to send for one of these. Anyone else interested?

Yes please 👍🏼

Jeffrey 14th May 2017 12:16 AM

Hii Guys,
I can bring these aluminum pipes to the meeting. Is there interest? 18 pounds the piece (without seals).

If interested, I can also get the seals gladly. I'll just take a few sentences.

I'd be interested in getting the pipe and the seals if possible, so that I can have them handy should the need arise.

Ditto. After reading the Audipages guide I bloody well hope I DONT have to do this. But its a good insurance policy to have the stuff ready so please count me in for pipe and seals +++

HPsauce 14th May 2017 03:14 PM

I bought one a while ago, it's the sort of thing that you hope you never need but silly not to have one handy. Lot cheaper and smaller than the spare wheels I've lugged around for about 15 years and never used.

Pretty much my thinking as well... although I don't think my mechanic would be happy to see me after the last job he did for me
