Coffee table edition. I suspect this book has never been read but the dust cover has some minor blemishes so I will describe this as in very good condition. It has been signed inside the cover but I don't know who by, see the photo.

Any idea whose autographs they are?
(I have 5 in my copy, now all identified with help from people here)

Dezzy 12th March 2013 03:40 PM

£5

David's8 12th March 2013 07:28 PM

I thought that the first signature could be "Jackie Stewart" but it doesnt match very well to examples online.... Did JS have any connection with Audi?

tintin 12th March 2013 07:40 PM

£10 from me...

Where's that thread? We could try similar sources again. Do either of these autographs match yours?

David's8 14th March 2013 01:30 PM

I have tried searching for a number of variations on the possible names looking at Audi race teams (mid 90s) or similar connections but to no avail.

First (top)signature:
First Name: Jake/Jackie/John
Second Name: Stewart/Stevens/Steinway (theres a musical thread here!)/Stevenson

Second Signature:
First Name: Noel/Roelf
Second Name: Allen/Allan/Alain/Allaird

The_Laird 14th March 2013 02:03 PM

The bottom one matches HPs copy and was identified by Richard (PsYcHe) some time ago:

"It's Richard Attwood...

Wee story with him.. First driver to win Le Mans for Porsche, owns an A8 (or at least did about 2 years ago). He was my instructor on a Porsche day at Silverstone."

Does this guy have an Audi RS 2 brochure? I really want one, I found one on eBay but it is hard to justify at £40, if it is for a good cause, that makes it easier for me to justify.

David's8 14th March 2013 02:17 PM

So, Noel = Richard!! Even allowing for sloppy handwriting its hard to believe that he got through life signing his name in order to identify who he was! I can buy "Attwood" but are you sure he was really a Richard? Just because someone calls him "Dick" doesnt mean to say that thats his name. :)

The_Laird 14th March 2013 02:19 PM

Can someone check this link? John Stevenson. It's blocked from my work!

You can find his autographs on line - and they match! Really!

driverdb.com has very little info on him but what there is puts him as an American racing between 1967 and 1987 in Sprint Cars.

How about this:

Good grief, I must be going blind! :o
I got mine out, looked at all 5 and didn't spot that.

The top one is nothing like any of mine, but it "suggests" it was signed at the same event. That was allegedly the 1994 A8 launch at Millbrook.

John Stevens started coaching at Brands Hatch, and subsequently became Chief Instructor at the Audi Quattro High Performance Driving School, a position he held for 16 years. He was responsible for the programme and instructor training during the formation of Audi's South African school, based at Kyalami, and his services have also been employed by Ford, Renault and Toyota for their works rally drivers.

Thats a possibility....

The_Laird 14th March 2013 04:56 PM

Just need to find a signature/autograph to confirm

HPsauce 14th March 2013 05:15 PM

I'd just drop him a polite email with a photo of that page, asking if it was him and the 1994 Millbrook event.
