Small VAG car for Daughter in Law

As per title, looking for a Golf / Polo or similar (must be VAG) with automatic gearbox and long MOT for DiL's first car. I have £1000 to spend.

Shame it needs to be auto - seen a lovely looking 2001 A3 1.8 Sport 5 door on another forum which would be in budget

Probably local to me if it's been serviced at QST

Thanks for the offer Rob, has to be an auto as she only took the auto test.

Hi Mike,
I know you said VAG, but what about Lexus, from what I hear they are quite reliable. Good reviews too. You can get a GS 3.0 for £1000. Maybe insurance would be too much?

I know it's not VAG.. but there's loads of Auto Honda Civics out there... Cheap to run, should be easy to find a decent example in the price range.

Not within reasonable driving distance of me! I've been suprised how few small autos there are!

Grab a Skoda MI or something, about £80-100 a month plus vat.
