Top Gear seats ?

So, its official, we're a bit overstocked on seats....

Lets do some quick maths....

2 front seats per car, 1 rear bench per car, 40+ cars dismantled, probably less than half a dozen seats sold in total = one large stockpile of cow trim. Moo.

Now, whilst the sport recaros have some value, as they are desired for many a VAG application, the non sport ones are less popular. Ok, they're a waste of storage space....

They are mostly fully electrically adjustable, with lumbar, heating etc and would (IMHO) make an awesome lounge setup if someone fancied a little welding.....

They mount very easily with a simple pair of parallel rails with 4 bolt holes, and a single +12v supply does everything....

The rear benchs could too make a nice sofa, complete with armrest lol.

So......

Can anyone find a good home for some of these?

Any crazy ideas what they could be used for ?

Its nearly BBQ season... Outside seats ?

We're on the verge of binning a large number of them, so whils stocks last the non sport prefacelift seats are 'free for collection' in our eyes as it saves us Bin space +++

I've promised myself a recaro sport seat for my bedroom when I've got a bit more dough, is it possible to take the metal runners off the seat? Want to sit them flat on laminate. +++

I could do with an A8 office swivel chair ;)

Chuck in a motocycle 12v battery and bob is related to your mother. Hmmmmm tempting.

Gaming chair (add some speakers and away you go) or as the wife just said, a nice sun lounger....

How much are you going to charge (free if picked up:D)

Now I could be seriously interested in a set of these :)

I know you said pick-up Ian but what would shipping be on these as my lad is about to get a flat with 2 mates and I think it would be so cool to have 2 of these on a wooden plinth with a battery or transformer in it for the tv.

The runners are perfectly flat, so 'as is' they will sit happily on a laminate floor I would say... Might be worth a touch of carpet under there to stop the rails leaving an impression...

The recaro sport seats (as fitted to A8 sports and S8's) are worth money to us, depending on the condition....

Cream and grey pre facelift seats are worth significantly less to us than black or facelift ones....

If you wanted 'recaros' we can do them between £50 and £300 depending on colour, condition etc...

Sounds like a good idea to me....

It'll be £50 for a pallet delivery UK mainland, and we can put two front seats on for that....

First come first served on the 'free' non sport ones +++

any heated rear ones? How easy is it to add the wiring as mine are non heated?

gninnam 28th March 2009 12:24 PM

Hi Ian, I'll be up for 2 front none sport models.
When can these be picked up - could come round this afternoon (be latish though) or could make it tomorrow (early morning though)!

Plan to turn these into gaming seats for the lad and lass.:D (like the idea of using a motorbike battery too+++)

billblank 28th March 2009 01:01 PM

Any grey, heated, everything electric ones going? Mine are a little tired and I'm missing a couple of switch covers + the usual sticky headrest problem now due to lack of use and maintenance.

As you've probably gathered, I dont do so much monitoring of the forum on a weekend, mute point though as the seats are in our unit near Stokesley, and not with me in Harrogate.....

You can pick them up Mon-Fri 9 to 5 from our unit, or for a tenner, I'll bring a pair back to my place in Harrogate and you can pick them on one evening?

It might be a week or so though till I can sort that though....

We will have, we'd just have to double check they're all working - Is yours a pre facelift, and does it have side airbags at the front...

entwisi 30th March 2009 07:31 PM

Ian, whats the crack with the centre seat having 3 point harness? My pre facelift has only a lap belt and I'd love to make it 3 point as my daughter loves looking out teh front window between the seats. Unfortunately unless I can make it 3 point its not happening.

Ian, a tenner sounds Ok to me (cost me more than that in juice you know...)
I'm out of the country until next week, so next week or later would be great+++

how much would it be to have a pair of non sport front seats or a rear bench seat shipped to the US (20012)? Might be able to talk the misses into letting me put a setup in the den.

IT 19th May 2009 05:45 PM

We're all out of the 'free' grey and cream ones now - We've got a pair of black ones at £100...

We'll need state, Zip code etc for a full shipping quote. Email us - enquiry@a8parts.co.uk and we can sort it for you, if the non-free seats are of interest.... +++
