AMI bits wanted for D3 S8

i have 2 6 stack cd players , i want to install AMI what do i need and how do i do it ??

thanks in advance

limoncello 21st August 2013 04:32 PM

you need to swap one of the 6 stacks for the AMI unit, unplug one, plug in the new one and its done, should be no need to recode

roberto 21st August 2013 04:34 PM

wow !

great stuff any idea what i have to buy ?

limoncello 21st August 2013 04:42 PM

oh sorry looks like you needed more - you need the AMI unit and the small lead that connects the unit to whatever method you want to use to play songs
you will not need any bridge adapters as you already have 2 cds

choices for the lead are
IPOD - that gives you the usual functionality through the MMI
Mini USB - lets you connect a harddisk, also works through the mmi
Std USB - also as above
standard little connector (like headphone jack) plug in any device using the headphone socket - but no mmi control

i went for the 250gb harddisk (you will find some audi ones on ebay) however 250gb of music is insane, i would probably have been fine with a 32gb pen drive
i also have the ipod adapter but only used it once

thats all you need really
there are loads of threads giving the part numbers on the forum.

roberto 21st August 2013 04:54 PM

limoncello 21st August 2013 07:46 PM

the part numbers on this are very similar will this be ok ?
this item part number is 8T0 057 785
you say this number (4E0 057 785F) Alt (8T0 035 785 A)
do the 4EO and 8TO make any difference ?

limoncello 22nd August 2013 05:11 AM

no , it looks the same but that ones not for you

PsYcHe 22nd August 2013 08:19 AM

That's the CAN-Bus version for 'lesser' Audis.. You need the 'MOST' version

A 5 minute job to swap.. and you may be better swapping it with the left hand side CD changer just in case you have the short glovebox.

roberto 22nd August 2013 04:39 PM

this one is the right part number

still says Can in the add will this be ok ?

roberto 23rd August 2013 06:14 PM

The number above matches what's posted on the previous page and it says MOST on the label so I'd say that's a goer :)

limoncello 23rd August 2013 08:22 PM

yes thats a good one for the a8

roberto 2nd September 2013 11:05 AM

Will this one be ok ?????

http://i43.tinypic.com/293ds9f.jpg

roberto 4th September 2013 03:16 PM

limoncello 4th September 2013 05:21 PM

what version is your MMI software at

PsYcHe 4th September 2013 07:56 PM

^^ What he said.. It needs something like 33.6.0 or thereabouts for AMI.
