2002 S8 Final Edition for sale

1 Attachment(s)
Hi
I under serious pressure to sell my beloved 2002 final edition S8 ... too many cars on the drive and a tax and insurance month coming up .

Reg is S8 AOC ( Audi Owners Club :) ) which will be included Attachment 6861

Colour is Santorini blue with mushroom leather , a great colour and lighter than the usual dark blue .

I have had the car since 72k and it now has 216k on it ... dealer service history in the main , couple of specialist and oil /filter changes by me at 200k .

Few bangs and paint chips .. but all electrics work as does aircon .

Gearbox needs flush but is fine when warmed up ...

I use the car as my daily driver and regularly go to Heathrow in it so totally reliable .

I changed the wheels and calipers in the last 50K , I was intending to have the old calipers refurbished and enameled red .. but will include these in the sale .

20" Final edition wheels have been enameled but are in good condition ...

Car located in Suffolk but I travel a lot so could arrange something if sale agreed .
Any interest ?

I know it wont go for what it is worth to me but as I said I am under serious pressure :(

Sorry that you have to sell. I already have one and so am not looking for another - but I do like the Santorini Blue! Best of luck in selling. +++

Am I alone in thinking that this isn't a Final Edition? Wrong colours and no phone prep for a start. Sorry!

Hi , 20" wheels and Brembo calipers were FE spec as I understood it ? Colour was a special order according to the order sheet . Phone prep ? How do you know it hasn't ?

Adrian E 16th October 2013 12:25 PM

Brembo calipers were standard fit on all later s8s and the 20s could be spec'd as an option

The FE was a fixed spec so if the paint was a special order it definitely isn't one in any case. It's not a colour available on an FE

It's not an issue as many FEs are low spec compared to non-FEs unless they've had a lot of retrofit options

I can't see the pic on my phone but I'm guessing there's no antenna on the near side rear wing? That's the give away for the GSM prep fitted as standard on the FEs

I would list all features of your car or post up some more detailed pics so people can see what's what :)

Is gearbox original, or been replaced at some point?

Good luck with sale :)

Thanks guys ... well that's that :)

It has a reflective coated screen with the ariels built in and a heating element , which is why I thought there was no aerial at the back .

More pics and spec to follow . Just gauging interest ..

thanks ,Steve

Interest levels will be directly relational to full spec, pretty photos and an all important indicative price.

The mileage is going to send the majority packing, so its going to have to be on the cheap side to raise any serious interest.

Not picking at the car, it actually looks really nice in that photo, but the reality of selling a 200K+ car with a significant thirst is that it has somewhat of a niche audience ;)

Singh 16th October 2013 12:43 PM

I'm interested. Can you PM me a price please?

I was going to add that you'd need to find another nutter like us, but Amar's post beat me to it! :D

Amar just wants his brake calipers back :)

So with the 20" wheels , S8 AOC plate and as everything is working I was hoping to get as close to 1,500 as possible .. or about the same as my son sold his corsa of the same age for ... :(

The_Laird 16th October 2013 02:42 PM

Jeez, is that all they're worth? The wheels and mirrors must be worth close to that.

Very reasonable price, I dont think it'll hang around long..... I was tempted myself for a minute there.... ;)

Happy to take more :) Longest I have ever kept a car , never kept anything beyond 90k before .... this feels the same at 215 k as it did at 90k ...

Ah well .... :(

Singh 16th October 2013 06:54 PM

I think I will take it as long as nobody beats me to it, I need to sleep on it and mull it over a day or two like I did with the C6...(which I ended up buying), I would need to get rid of my PF A8 though, I couldn't make the two work...

topcyclist 20th October 2013 05:07 PM

S8 - Now sold thanks

Hi , Amar is now the proud owner ....brought a tear to my eye seeing him drive off , but ho hum ...... so what next ...D3 S8 or very high spec diesel maybe ....
Anyway couldn't have gone to a nicer guy ... he now has a pair of brembo calipers for sale ...

Steve

Glad it's gone to a (very) good home+++. Good luck with your hunt for a D3 s8 (or whatever...) Steve.

Amar - what are you looking for for the calipers?

Singh 20th October 2013 06:24 PM

Nice dealing with you, Steve. Thanks for the kind words and the opportunity to buy your lovely S8 +++

Unfortunately, the car overheated about 1-3 miles from home, it was fine the 140 odd miles I did before I got it home so I hope it is something as simple as a coolant pipe popping off, bad luck I guess, not a drop in the coolant reservoir so I think it was a sudden thing rather than a gradual leak. I did hear a noise as I pulled off from a roundabout and could smell burning, then the coolant light came on and I noticed the temp had gone over 90...

I've not had the time/energy to investigate as had to get home for a certain time and had a late night yesterday, so will investigate on a day I have more energy.

Tintin - I'll send you a PM.

Singh 20th October 2013 07:27 PM

Nice spec, I think heated front screen was the only thing I've not had in a D2 bar fridge. How do you activate the front heated screen?

Here's the spec from a friend at Audi:

-[5J5J] Azure Blue Pearl Effect
-[WJ] Papyrus
-[3Y5] Electric Rear Sun Blind/Manual Side Blind
-[5MX] Insert, maple wood, light finish
-[8RY] BOSE Sound System
-[PDB] Twin-pane heat/UV insulating glass/heated w.screen
-[PX5] Xenon Plus headlights (inc.headlight washers)
-[QV1] TV reception

I think it just comes on automatically when you press the windscreen demist button on the heater controls, no separate button.
If it's anything like the one in my Ford Focus it will turn off after a couple of minutes.

Goran 20th October 2013 09:19 PM

Congrats Amar, hope the coolant is a easy fix.
Make sure you charge your battery to full to see the heated windscreen in action. Sergey found out it uses around 1000 Watts, which from a 12V battery is close to 100Amps, so its module will not let it work if the battery is not near fully charged as its voltage will sag too much with such a high load.

Is that like a challenge? ;)

Glass sunroof.
Text only Sat nav.
Comfort seats.
Towbar?
(getting a bit desperate now lol)
LWB with drop down vanity mirrors for the rear

:p

Sorry to hear about the coolant, but a rapid loss should hopefully be easy to find, way easier than gradual leak. Just fill the tanks and see where she wees.... Better it died nearly home, than half way there...

Oli18 21st October 2013 10:48 AM

Congrats Amar and welcome to the blue Audi club - stunning combo! +++

Will it be yours or another one for the clan?

When you get a sec, would you mind just letting me know the paint code it has on it? It would be interesting to see as mine is Z5K Azure blue and is an Exclusive colour on the D3.

Oli

Sorry, all the extras I would have wanted, that should have read. I wouldn't own one with comfort seats, glass sunroofs I don't like, have it on the C6 and prefer it to be dark in the cabin so it's always closed, vanity mirrors in the back would be cool and tow bar, forget it! You're right, sudden is better in this case. Jug was following me in the D4 and said he saw a lot of smoke and could smell the same burning as me? Odd, very odd. On the plus side, the gearbox seemed perfectly normal to me...

Oli, this is my own in the sense it is bought and paid for by me, but I'm not sure how much use I will get out of it and it will be made available to my sister/dad as a winter car as her new BMW has no chance in the snow we're expecting in November. So I currently have the RS6,S8,A8 2x V8's and a V10 plus whatever company car I'm in as it changes every three months or so. I need to get rid of the silver A8 I bought a few months back though, sad, because I have a soft spot for that car. :(

Thanks, Goran. Good to know, and Oli - I'll get the paint code tonight, I thought it was in my previous post though, or is that something else?

Singh 23rd October 2013 05:39 PM

Put four litres of water in there, not a drop in the expansion tank after 2 seconds, as it was wet and dark I couldn’t see where it was leaking from. I’m glad the water didn’t stay, means there is a crack in it or a loose pipe rather than an annoying small leak which will be harder to identify. Oh well, I can always clean it while it’s poorly, needs some TLC and it will look great inside I reckon…
