i compared the market much better than them
i had my renewal from admiral the other day
:tuttut: £985 how about kiss my arse. so i did thee usual compare the market, confuse **** that were no good cheapest being £950ish most being £4k ish :p anyway elephant website came up cheapest at £711 not too bad but still too much so i made a few adjustments added a few named drivers and got it down to £580 the best i thought id get considering my mishap last year. i gave admiral a call to tell them of there lost business, only to find out that elephant are a sister company to admiral and they would match my quote +++ so by the time we have gone over a few details i got a final quote of £407 :):yippee: who said shopping about never pays saved myself £578 tonight  |
It does pay. I declared all my Mods to RAC and it went fro £305 to £416?
Bell.co.uk got my business at £315. :) |
Christ £315. I dream of insurance quotes like that.
Unfortunately my cheapest was £780 unmodified. |
Swiftcover.com here
429 quid less 35 quidco, just under 400 notes is good enough for me! |
I'm with them. It must be the postcode.
Gutted:-( |

Can i be really nosey and ask what voluntary excess you've selected? Was the additional driver a woman, and do you declare it as parked in the garage or drive? Have my insurance renewal coming up so would be good to get some tips. Best quote so far is £478 (Elephant.co.uk) - fully-comp, No-claims protected, insured in swindon, on-street parking, 10k miles a year, £150 voluntary excess and the gf as an additional driver. No claims or convictions in the last 3 years. Cheers, Oli |

it was the named drivers that cut hundreds off the price |
Mine is £387 with Admiral on a '99 3.7 QS FL
fully-comp, No-claims protected, insured in swindon, off-street parking, 6k miles a year, £150 voluntary excess. 3 pts for speeding:o |
Mines just under £4k with my mum(52), dad(53), sister(31) and me on it. Using my dads NCB and car is allways garaged. Increased £75 annually when I changed from my 4.2 QS to the S8. Will call around tomorrow to see if I can get a cheaper quote otherwise I think I will have to suspend it for a few months, anyone want to hire my S8 out? :(

4K!!!!!!!!!!!
At 18 I had £24 in my pocket after deductions a week. My first car cost £60 to buy and £95 to insure. :ROFL:I was 19 and on £32 per week. |
Flippin heck, thats 1 and a half gearboxes!!!! :D
<New monatary value has been invented, the "The A8Cogs" - approx value £2.5K > :D |
For some reason the admiral/elephant/bell group of companies are always cheap, Ive just moved from elephant to Greenlight only reason really was that Elephant specificly ban the Nurburgring on their policy and as I may be going this year I decided to pay a bit extra to be safe.
|
Mine's up for renewal next month. Best I got so far is £359 fully comp, protected no claims, 12k a year.
|
My latest including all mods being declared is currently £425, that's with protected NCB and 6 points for speeding :)

Just renewed mine 2 weeks ago, had mine and the wifes polo on a multi car from Admiral, but as standard Admiral policy is - it went up this year, and we have moved 10 miles down the road so obviously that made it go up aswell. I have enough experience with Admiral to know they are cheap for a year until you want to renew, and wasn't about to pay over £900!
Started phoning around, the wife called her old mob Diamond.. and guess what. they are also owned/partnered with Admiral.. (you'd be surprised how many of these spin off companys are owned by a larger group) Called the new 'Aviva' - they are crap. 'Built around customers' although the service was appaling and they called me randomly for 2 weeks even though I asked them not to. Eventually signed with direct line. Having a house policy and landlord policy with them helped, they mirror over my 5yrs plus no claims over to the wife, as the policys are linked, I get guaranteed hire car, recovery, business use and all the standard bells and whistles for both drivers on both cars for £750 ish. I was reasonably happy with that considering the extras (think mine on its own with both drivers, recovery and hire car was around £530 - £350ish without all the extras. (and I have a low excess) |

Whatever business you're into....i want in! -Oli |
Sink Admiral!
Same story here - had multi-car policy with Admiral and they tried to double the premium at first renewal! Went to Direct line, where two individual policies cost less then the single Admiral quote for my S8.
Up yours greedy bloke with the daft hat, tucked arm and big collars! |
Direct line for me and the wife. In her name because I only had bike no claims. £350 with all the bells and whistles. Mid 30's and clean licences.
Singhs quote reminds me of my first few years of motorcycling. £2k a year but so worth it to have a proper bike. Perversely my premiums dropped when I got a brand new bike. My GSXR 750 is now £200 a year, I like being old sometimes. Bill |
Heck its worth it, I've wanted an '8 Since I was 10/11. Been saving since forever for one, wanted to do it all on my own. The good thing is my parents don't know anything about cars, so they have no idea how much I'm paying for insurance! They think I'm saving up for uni  But pretty much everything I earn goes on the '8  My dad only found out from one of his work mates the other week that the S8 wasn't a 1.8 like I told him and in fact a 4.2 V8. He didn't even clock on it wasn't a 1.8 after he took it on a 300mile journey
Just checked some quotes got it down to 2650 :D Highest was over £12k! |

Are you gonna cancel the other and take up the new one? Think of all the extras you can add to your '8 with all the spare change ;) |
I once paid £3500 insurance for my Scooby.... That hurt.
I ended up parking it in the garage with theft only cover for half the policy :p Not a problem these days. David and I can drive anything we have in our posession, fully comp inc trailers, commercials, theft from home, social domestic & pleasure, motor trade and business class xyz for a little under £1500.... Bargain +++ And thats with all my points.... :tuttut: :D So, my RS6 quite literally costs as much to insure as my transit van... |
HAHAHAHAHAHA...bloody christ i must be old...£276 fully comp with mrs on..Admirral....
why im at it....Gsx 1400...£235.... You young wipper snappers |
I got my Renewal papers in from Bell Direct - looked OK at £305 so I just let it ride, it automatically renews unless you actually bin them.
I meant to get a few quotes but never got round to it..... Last week I idly looked at the Schedule and see I have a £500 mandatory and a £200 voluntary excess! Argh.... but I've got about a hundred years of no claims so I might just make it again. I might just remember to get quotes next year. |
You should have 14 days to cancel from renewal...
I bet if you rang up to 'cancel' they'd find a way to reduce it, they always do... The AA breakdown cover works the same way. I 'cancel' that every renewal and get an instant 20% refund :D |
My renewal arrived - up by £30!
£540 (protected ncb, roadside assistance, couretesy car, legal, blah, blah) They want 11 payments at £54 (APR 16%) Best 'deal' was swift, wanting £333, but add all of the above, comes to £425 - good, but over 12 months, deposit of £83, then 10 months of £45 - thers APR is 26%... Looks like I'll stick with what I got. |
