D3 Pre and post facelift differences

Looks like I am in the market for a D3 to replace the 3.7 D2 QS.

Budget is 6K max, and in that range I see that early facelift D3's are now creeping in under that figure.

Do all the diesels have DPFs?

Apart from the obvious styling changes at the front, what are the other main differences?

No, initially it was just the A8L.
If it has one, it will say EU4+DPF on the emmsissions sticker under the bonnet.
Getting one hollowed out and reflashed ECU is not that expensive.

Am I the only one who bought pre-facelift because I prefer the look?

Air suspension
More gears in the box
Fingerprint unrecognition
Standard MF steering wheel
Much more power
More economical
Better lights, brakes

And.... The one manufacturers always state blah% stiffer body. This one is clearly impossible otherwise by now all cars would be as stiff as a block of granite (or a porn star (male))

Oooo almost forgot this one. The D2 is lighter and it drives better (less twitchy), at least in my limited experience

I ment about D3 pre and post-facelift.

As above, but wasn't DPF a legal requirement on all cars manufactured from 2005 ???
I would push for a facelift model no matter what, honestly.

Rectangular front fogs, redesigned rear light cluster, improved sound deadening in the cabin. Side assist and Lane assist (amongst other things) only became available as options post FL, I think. HDD sat nav came in after the FL, in 2009.

There's an unresolved question as to whether the Torson diff changed from the T2 (50/50) to the T3 (60/40) at FL time, or whether it was always the T3. Wiki says it changed, but I think it may well be wrong on that.

I suppose this was really FL2 as there was original D3 with split bumpers, then FL1 with the one piece grille and round fog lamps, then FL2 as described above +++

Probably not sarg, maybe it was just amusing to me, and me only.

I was amused by tonupkid's sarcastic response and still am, but each to their own, it's my kind of humour.

Glad we cleared that up ;) That's the difficulty with the written word, or symbol even, sometimes, it can be interpreted incorrectly.
