2014 - Annual Meet Prizes

As usual we are looking for forum members to donate items which can be given as prizes at this year's meet please. The exact detail of how and why prizes will be awarded is currently a mystery to the organisers, but never fear we are full of bright ideas, well one of us is anyway:D

We already have a number of stunning prizes including vouchers from our sponsors A8 Parts but we need more. So come on folks don't be listing great stuff on auction sites when it can be donated to our Annual Meet prize fest:)

I will start the ball rolling with my usual bottle of Scottish Product

Thanks in advance for your generous offers+++

Cool...Is that a one litre or two litre bottle of Irn Bru then..?

M-A8 6th May 2014 10:16 PM

I'm a newbie here as you all know and never attended annual meet so maybe a silly question, but what sort of prizes are we talking about, price wise, how many small prizes needed, how many decent, how many BIG ones etc +++

briang9 6th May 2014 10:23 PM

It varies TBH, we have had anything from M&S Vouchers to a set of four wheels at previous meets, have a look at the previous annual meet threads in this section and that will give you some idea+++

The_Laird 7th May 2014 07:12 AM

Anything at all. Some cleaning stuff, sales brochures, carpet mats, tool kits, memorabilia, food/drink, vouchers, car models.....+++

David's8 7th May 2014 07:47 AM

Some of the prizes will be provided by organisations we have managed to persuade to donate - my local car parts place is donating a tyre pump. Value about £25. But individuals can submit whatever they think is appropriate as the Laird has suggested below. +++

Ok, I'll be the first to add to Brian's bottle with a 1/43rd model of a Black D3 from the "Audi authentic collection". Possibly more to follow, once I get a chance to look in the cave...

M-A8 7th May 2014 08:31 PM

I will think of something, at this moment right now I've got a 3rd World War going on, so much sh1t is unreal so cant focus at the minute.
Will think of some gadget, maybe some tools set, or if that is ''acceptable'' and not rude a 2nd hand tower only Dell Optiplex 755 with 2gb ram, 320gb drive, dual core cpu, winxp and win7, dual system, with etka and ElsaWin preinstalled ????

Just dont call me cheap because its second hand, i just throw ideas on the table coz have no time to thing what other people will think about it, to much time wasted which I haven't got

Still not sure if I get there BUT will donate anyway.

Got a price for painting the car today, wheel refurb, checked the hotels around mackies for thursday night to do a service frinday 6th in the morning so I may actually get there.
I actually may be without the car from this friday for over a week, wheels first then re-spray.

No I need to sort the noisy suspension, steering
cant go without that, full stop

this thread
http://forum.a8parts.co.uk/showthread.php?t=8005

Will appreciate any help ASAP as I am a bit thick with mechanical side of the car, trying to figure out which dry ball joint you telling me about guys so I can get the price for parts tomorrow from the shop, can't change all 16 main components on the front axle as this costs me another fortune.

I'm trying to close the budget of this trip, inc all the necessary work before hitting highlands, on about 2.5k, and I'm on the limit.
I may post better pictures tomorrow for better expertise as my garage is 36miles across london and I may not have a car from friday so will have very little time, VERY STRESSFUL !!!!!!!!!! :angry4::angry3::angry2::angry2::angry3::angry2::a ngry4::angry3::angry2::angry3::angry4:

The_Laird 8th May 2014 07:11 AM

Chill a bit, please, or you'll end up in the 'garage' as well. :(

As we've said, all donations (well, not blood or any other bodily fluids :tuttut:) for prizes are welcome. Quite fancy the tower myself!

Hi,

Now that I know I'm definitely coming, I'll happily chuck in a prize. I work for a brewery so it can only make sense if I donate a mixed case of 24x330ml beers.

Website here - http://harviestoun.com/ to whet your appetite on what the beers will be. All very nice if I do say so myself!

Cheers,

Gregor

The_Laird 9th May 2014 10:07 AM

In order to provide a bit of variety and to help support a very worthy cause that PsYCHe has been cycling his pedals off for, we thought that this year we would look to have a raffle for some of the excellent prizes now donated. So we will have a prizes for the quiz winners (and second and third places) as well as a prize for the best presented car. The rest of the prizes will be subject to a raffle for very moderately priced tickets and the proceeds donated to the prostate cancer charity Richard has been cycling for. Its a subject close to men of "our age" hearts - or more precisely another part of the anatomy. So please feel free to donate anything you think may be worthy of the cause! +++

David's8 19th May 2014 07:30 PM

Further donations for the prize draw are still welcome. Whilst there are some top drawer prizes - no doubt BrianG will be along sometime to tempt you with what he and we have persuaded some supportive organisations to part with as well as what the kind folk on here have donated - any further items to add to the pool will always be welcome for the very worthy cause mentioned above. +++
