Ages of 8 owners...
Another post recently got me thinking about this. I guess, generally, the 8 might be seen as a choice for the more mature end of the spectrum. I recall loving 8's when I first sat in one way back in, maybe mid 90's at a guess so it does have appeal to the 20 something's, or at least did to me.. Or perhaps it's that, generally, those in their 20's can't usually afford to run a car like an 8?
When I had an RX8, the OC members average age was considerably lower than mine. When I had a Merc, I was about average. I'm curious about the 8 now, so I'll kick off. I'm 45. |
I bought mine when I was 38 and I am now 41.
40 with mental age of 18 ;)
Got my first S8 when I was 52, now 65. Insurance is not an issue.
I'm 30 and became an owner of my 8 when I was 26
Fell in love when I was 14 I think |
40 here too - 37 when bought and agreed insurance is buttons - it's the fuel and tyre bills that are wallet wilting lol
I am 43 now, 36 when I bought my first A8 and 40 when it broke, not come back to another 8, yet, but the D4 is looking interesting...
51, and living in Northern Ireland, insurance is always an issue! Had my first experience of an A8 back in 1995. Went to the Audi dealership to sign the paperwork for a new A4 1.9TDi, and the salesman took me for a 'quick' spin in the A8 that they had. He let me drive it back to the showroom, and it scared the s*it out of me, more so because of fear of damaging it.

I'm 41 and bought my first 8 a month ago, so far best car I have owned to date.
I have trade insurance so not an issue. |
Just got my bus pass!
I'm on my third '8, so must have bought the first one early to mid 50s (age, not year). Insurance not an issue for me either, even when I've had points and claims. |
Bought my 1st A8 three years ago at the age of 57, following years of Company cars, decided by the Company Motor Policy at the time. Never permitted to have a 4.2 as a Company car due to fuel & insurance etc. Love the 8 now as it is so effortless to drive and has the kick and go of a much more expensive sports roadster. love it +++++++++

Bought mine 7 years ago and I still occasionally get asked for ID when buying alcohol. :D
I'm 23 now and bought mine when I was 21...

You dinosaurs :D
I may go shopping next week for some old man outfits so I can blend-in easier :p Hat and sandals ?? or something like this ?? http://img.izismile.com/img/img6/201...40_high_02.jpg or a Scottish theme? http://chinesepeoplehavenostyle.file...5-58-28-am.png PS. PLEASE, don't get upset, I'm just joking !!! |
40 now - was 37 when I bought it while the wife was away for 6 weeks visiting family abroad:ROFL: I thought it would be a pleasent surprise
Sadly, it broke down a week after purchase and was off the road for a month bankrupting me. Picked her up from the airport in one of Enterprise's Hyundai i30 Still not letting on that it was a new car that had broken down and not the B5.5 Passat she said this Hyundai is nice and we should buy one  |
Also bus pass qualified. :)
45 but act like 12 most of the time
was my 58th birthday last week:D
I was 50 when I had my first 8, will probably be around 60 when I get my next...
I wanna know where Marcin got that photo of me. :D
53, but acting like 35, and regressing further into childhood with every passing year. First wanted an '8 in '98 (you all know why…), spent a decade trying to find the right one, and will be keeping it for another 10 years at least...+++
I bought my first 8 when I was 49. On my second now at 55.
I was in my forties when I bought mine, but as of March I'm now 50  (but frankly I celebrate the anniversary of my 21st each year instead) :p
I was 31 when I bought my first D2, only 3 years after getting my licence. And my instructor warned me against getting a big car :)
I'm my 2nd S8. The D3 often delights and occasionally terrifies me. Which I guess shows that despite 59 years I'm still an idiot :D
Was 44 when I bought my first, now almost 47 years old and on my 2nd A8.
8's
bought my 1st 8 when i was 45
ive owned about 9 8's altogether now im 59 ! you old t--t Robert :tuttut: thought i'd get that in before somebody else did +++ |
Has anyone averaged the ages yet? Dan, you asked the question so what's the answer?
Mid fiftys' would be my guess, but for gods sake don't add up the ages
On my first 8 only recently at 36 years old.

We have to date a total of 1,345 years between 27 people, which according to my calculator tells me the average age is:-
49.81 years young. |
First A8 at the age of 31 and still 31.
Bought my first one in 2005 when I was 41 and bought another this year as I'm fast approaching 50, hopefully I'll be around long enough to enjoy a few more.
In the body - 33
in my mind - 21 forever |
