Sleeping in the A8?
Have any of you slept overnight in your A8? I may have blagged entry to Glasto and can only go Fri nite to Sun morning, will take a tent but wondered if its just worth sleeping in the A8 when needed. Any tips where/which position is most comfy?
Thanks, -zahg |

I was coming to this year's Annual Meet in Scotland as a late booking due to bits needed to be done for this trip. There was no rooms left in Tyndrum so I borrowed a tent, sleeping bag and air mattress and head of towards lovely Highlands. Long story short, on the first night when I got to the camp site I got out from the car (past 11pm), huffed, puffed and got back to the car. I slide the passenger seat almost all the way back and down as far as possible, played with lumbar support, headrest, shoes off and that was me done. Woke up next day like it was a normal day, all I felt was the tiredness after driving 9hours day before and some alcohol, other than that a great night. Found 2-3 good positions, avoid rear seats, unless you are really short. I would strongly recommend using your 8 as a overnight accommodation +++ I proved some time ago to my Mrs that A8 is a perfect family car (after coming back home in an A8 when I promised to buy a Ford Galaxy), proven by many that 8 it's a ultimate car (combination of luxury and sportiness) and most recently I proved that 8 it's also a perfect campavan with a boot like a double door wardrobe +++ F*** the tent mate, all that hassle, rain, wind, bugs, put the passenger seat down and enjoy your stay in a 5star mobile penthouse :D |
Not overnight, but I've had long snoozes in the drivers seat in a fully reclined position.

This has to win the prize for oddball 8 related question of 2014 +++
I've snoozed in mine outside of various exciting shopping places and the extra forward kink to the shoulder of the seat (if you have comfort seats) is pretty sublime. Whatever next  No, don't answer. anyways, enjoy your visit to Glsto you lucky b45strd |

Otherwise you're "on guard" all the time. :( |
M-A8 lol excellently reassuring, I was thinking that would be the best position (im not short). For some strange reason i was wondering if anyone had slept in the massive boot. Ford Galaxy? You defo made the right choice!
As its only a short stay there wont really be an overnight, a few power naps should be enough in the A8 i reckon - still blaggin it in is not a defo, will let you know if it happens Quote:

I'm 6'3" and twice I've slept overnight in a German truck stop in an A4 on the back seat. The A8 would be a 'superior single'

funniest thread award. Those rear seats are so comfy I have been tempted to nap on them, problem is I just cant seem to stop driving :) Well done Marcin for using your 8 to the max! |
I took my S on a road trip last march. Had to kip in it once or twice and slept like a baby, albeit snoring like a piglet.
Passenger side is best, with a maggot. Wonderful cars! +++ |
With a maggot??
Thanks for the replies, but looks like i wont be making it to glasto after all, the blag didnt come thru. |
late evening ferry to calais , first exit towards the town but round the roundabout and back into the terminal car park
terminal open all night with toilets etc ,sleeping bag and pillow [ essential] in boot , an 8 to sleep in , what more could you want for a peaceful night ? |
