The A8 is gone :(

Sold this morning to a guy who came down from Newcastle with a one-way ticket

Gave it one last drive this morning and I'm sad to see it go but all good things must come to an end!

:(

Architex_mA8tey 12th July 2014 02:29 PM

I've got a feeling you'll be back in the world of 8's some time in the future!
Did you get what you wanted for it ollie?

tintin 12th July 2014 02:35 PM

Never mind what - whyyyy?????….

It's sad to lose a car from the forum "family", even sadder to lose an owner as well, so I agree with Neil, hopefully you'll be back in the fold soon… :-)

Conquistador 12th July 2014 03:38 PM

I think I agree with Neil too ;)

D2s have grown on me over the last few years and after every event. So you never know ;)

And the reason for sale, I really fancy a convertible!

I started it at £9k and slowly reduced it to £8k and I eventually sold it for £7,750 for a quick sale, so I'm happy.

I'll still lurk and post on here of course.

briang9 12th July 2014 05:26 PM

hope you get what you want, and we see you back again soon+++

notorious 12th July 2014 10:22 PM

see you back again!

Conquistador 13th July 2014 11:10 PM

Cheers guys. Well for now, here's the replacement. :o

Go easy on me and keep the abuse to a minimum! ;)

Hmmm….it would be premature to be too abusive without knowing a bit more - e.g. model/engine size, and have you just bought it for the summer sunshine?

Delboy 14th July 2014 05:48 AM

Is that an m sport?, hope you have an electric oven if it is. :)

Should be a fun play thing for sumner.

Suspect you'll miss the 8 soon enough though.

Conquistador 14th July 2014 08:49 AM

It's a 2.2i SE model. I don't ever recall seeing one in this colour combo so that appealed to me quite a bit.

I was looking at a few Z3Ms and found this Z4 within budget so thought I'd go for it. It has fairly decent spec: BMW Business media/stereo and 6 CD changer, climate control and an electric roof but I learnt that the electric roof was actually an option on Z4s. God knows who would buy the car new and not spec the automatic roof!

I'll keep an eye out for your 8 Ollie, there aren't many about up here ;)

That's a lovely car for less than £8K - someone got a bargain!

You'll need to keep your eyes peeled. He must have hit 80 on my 30 road as he left my house lol!

I was struggling to drum up enough interest with it at £8,500/£9,000 and getting a bit fed up and impatient so dropped it to around £8,000.

No room in the Z4 for my scissors I'm afraid ;) Could have been worse, I could have bought a Vitara!

Power hood was standard on Z4s with a proper engine ;)

This was mine, had it around 2004-2005.

Sarg, did yours have runflats? This one has Bridgestone runflats with puny 16" alloys and it tramlines epically!

New wheels/tyres are definitely first on my mod list.

chucklestinlegs 15th July 2014 02:54 PM

Enjoy your new brief Ollie, keep in touch +++

It's okay, I've got a real one, I'll soon catch him up ;)

Yes, I had runflats in 19"s and it tramlined like a bad 'un, but I learnt to live with it.

Modern runflats are supposedly a lot better, but not had them on any car since then. SWMBO's previous Mini had runflats which were nowhere near as bad, current Mini has same size wheels on standard tyres and rides much better.

There's a lot to be said for the safety element of run flats though, they save my ass once with the Z4, hence I learnt to live with them.

Looking at pics again, I remember that the black paint and/or lacquer was badly affected by bird crap so get in the habit, if not already, of cleaning it off ASAP.
