Twin Vanity on the fronts yes +++ rear no .. was not in the headlining
2012 lights are plug and play yes however you will need to sculpt about 3 inches of the bumper as they are sweeping rather than straight .. but its straght forward |
Nice.
More pictures!! Looking forward to this..............possible way to much. Turning headlights, AFS2? That's interesting to know about the A5 lights. Did they get the turning head light thingys like the A8s? I assume that's for the 2008> facelifts not the 2006> facelifts? |
a5 headlights? really? any links to an example

This looks very impressive, literally Ultimate A8. Well done mate +++
Re: A5 headlights. I thought you talking about this design as they actually look very similar http://www.carsteering.com/data/all_...44683-Map1.jpg ...but the ones from the picture look absolutely stunning on 8 I have to say, it's just not a straight swap. Yes, near the wing bumper needs to be sculpt, but also bonnet needs a little work and bumper on the grill side, you sculpt a bit in line with top of the headlight, but they you also have to make up near the bottom corner of the headlight. Shame I've just re-sprayed the whole front, but idea is rather interesting and it looks so good. Then mounting points, that will require a bit of work as well I think. If you do that, I will be well jealous  Great project, really impressive +++ |
This is indeed excellent work Guy.
|
Why not go the whole hog and stuff some of these in.....
http://www.wired.com/2014/05/audi-r8...er-headlights/ +++:cool: |
Lazer lights oh dear....
Engine wise to answer that 4.2 RS6 twin turbo ..coupled to LWB TDI box matching rear diff K04 turbos ect 500-600bhp ....kept quiet and sedate of corse no loud exhaust or anything +++ |
When's it up for sale, Guy?
|
How did you come to have a shell?
would love to hear the back story, and cant wait to see the end result |

I for one will be following this thread with great interest as, someone building the ultimate Audi A8 D3, well it's to be admired really... we all want the best for as little money as possible, and some of the things you are doing are not easy, so it's good to follow behind the braver ones who've gone through the pain of working it all out first! Regards, Mark. |

I'm unlucky in the respect that my A8 D3 doesn't have any Video or TV, I have Sat Nav obviously and was told by the previous owner has watched films in it, but I've not worked out how. But regardless of this in my Evo I had a lovely double din unit which had Freeview all built in and would also play on the move, and this was something I really enjoyed... So I'm curious as you've plumbed it in front and rear with twin headrest screens, but which way have you gone about your retro fit? Quote:
Regards, Mark |
Ok so... headlights the ones above are indeed A5 but they are pre facelift A5 so they dont have the bulge in them. They would go straight in with minimal faffing ...the 2012 lights however are simmilar to an automatrix led
you can fit them and use vag com to code them as the advanced drl lights with fixed corner lamp +++ as for tv..well I was lucky to have tv as standard if you post a picture of what is in your boot gubbins il have a look. But as far as im aware you need to run the Green Coax cable from the front all the way to the boot .. you need a different MMI brain I think and said tv box.. im not sure if you have the fiber optic most bus network cable or if you would have to run it through Never be afrade of trying anything I had to battle running cables with an lpg tank bolted in the boot ! Not easy on to ACC next and gearbox service +++ |

Yeah I have enough on at the moment with just getting back to how Audi had intended, the Headlight issue, and tonight a popped hose from the steering fluid system. although that appears to be getting sorted. But the TV does sound good, some of the ones that I test drove had it in and I was impressed with it, and somehow I like the car I have no so much, being black and 2008 facelift etc... that I didn't even notice thee TV not being there. However it is listed on a "to do if possible" list and if there is a case of adding a module to the car and then using the media button on my panel to select it so that the module activates then that would be great. After all I'm pretty sure that there must be many an Audi A8 out there breaking with all of the bits that the car needs to do this, the paying for it is the easy bit once cash has been saved, but as I've found with everything on this car so for doing the slightest thing to it seems like a mission.
